Western Digital has released a new portable HDD dubbed as ‘My Passport Studio‘. In this series of external hard drive, Western Digital has squeezed in the modern display technology to display the remaining free space and file name and 256-bit Hardware encryption for data security.
The display technology I mentioned just now is using the same technology as the modern ebook reader has, where Western Digital My Passport Studio is coming with a small E-Ink display panel to display the HDD status.
Western Digital My Passport Studio is still using USB 2.0 connection, which is compatible with both PC and Mac, and WD has equipped the My Passport Studio with Apple’s backup machine the Time Machine and WD SmartWare which is Western Digital’s own backup system for PC.
As a bonus, Western Digital My Passport Studio Portable HDD is still supporting FireWire 800 connection. This External Hard drive is available in three different capacity (320GB, 500GB and 640GB) and you can find them selling with the price range between $150 and $200 a pop.
