Sony PlayStation 3 Firmware 3.50 Adds 3D Support, Facebook Integration and Grief Reporting Function

As what we have known from May 2010, Sony will update their PS3 with 3D functionality for free and it’s right now available in the firmware 3.50. The firmware is not only adding 3D support for blu-ray movies, you can also find a new option (for developers) where you can develop facebook apps and incorporating more social networking into a supportive games. The firmware also allow user to report harassment through the Friends link in XMB interface using Grief Reporting Function.

however, updating 3D support doesn’t mean your TV is going to pop up if it’s not 3D compatible. Also, you’ll need to make sure that you’ve an active shutter 3D glasses as well as a HDMI 1.4 cable before you can see any different. Kinda an expensive upgrade though. And we have heard that The Firmware 3.50 is not stable yet. There is an error that gives sudden empty field where you’d normally find your Save Password store for PSN online mode, as well as some major incompatibility in displaying 3D images with the firmware.
