Hitachi has new hard drives added to their product list. Codenamed as TravelStar 5K750 and TravelStar 7K750, they are the new hard drives that has the new Advanced Format using 4K sector size. Using the new advanced format, the data integraty in high capacities has been improved, as well as a significant improvement on the performance section.
Both Hitachi 5K750 and 7K750 are using the SATA 3.0Gb/s interface, not the fastest yet, but should be able to transfer at a promising speed too. Both models are also available in EA or Enhanced Availability editions, which is designed form servers or other system that requires 24 hours / 7 days operation. In this EA edition, the hard drive has included a Thermal Fly-height control, TrueTrack Technology, and Fluid dynamic bearing motors.
Both Hitachi 5K750 and Hitachi TravelStar 7K750 hard drive will be available in 500GB ,640GB, 750GB model, and it will hit the market on November 2010 (5K750) while the 7K750 is arriving late in Q1 2011.
