Sony, the giant consumer electronic company has just made an introduction to their new Super 35mm Digital Camcorder codenamed as PMW-F3.
You can consider this PMW-F3 the heavyweight class of digital camcorder because it’s aiming for the professionals. It’s not only coming with super 35mm CMOS imager with high sensitivity and low noise level, this PMW-F3 is also compatible with most cine lense from Fujinon, Zeiss, Arri or Cooke.
Of course, a digital camcorder like this Sony PMW-F3 must have a plethora of amazing features to allow professionals to tweak their recording. Let’s start from video recording capability.
Sony PMW-F3 super 35mm digital camcorder can record video at the resolution of 1920×1080, 1440×1080, and 1280×720 at 23.98/25/29.97p, 50/59.94i in DVCAM mode, as well as 25/29.97PsF and 50/59.94i.
It’s quite an overwhelming number. But the key is, Sony PMW-F3 can virtual record in any format require for filmmaking. Aside from the resolution, Sony PMW-F3 can also adjust the recording speed from slow (undercranking) to quick (overcranking), from 1 to 30fps at full HD resolution, to 60 fps at 1280 x 720p resolution.
Sony PMW-F3 will be available as standalone camcorder or bundled with PL lens kit (PMW-F3K). No price mentioned, but it will come in January 2011.
