emPower! was unveiled at CES 2011 this year, and it’s now reported to start shipping on mid-March this year. emPower! is made by PixelOptics, introduced as the first battery-powered auto-focusing eyeglasses that free user from switching between two pairs of glasses for different purposes.
emPower electronic focusing eyeglasses has a special LCD-like layer with the function to aid short distance focusing. Once the power is on, the LCD layer will change its molecular stricter to change the focus.
It looks great, but the downside is that you’ll have to charge this glasses every 2 or 3 days once, which might become another problematic gadget that you would not want to bring around when hiking in the mountain.
