Western Digital 6TB My Book Studio Edition II External Hard Drive

Western Digital has just announced a massive storage solution for desktop user. They’ve managed to squeezed 6TB storage into their My Book Studio Edition II external hard drive to offer more space for the data junkies.

For a second, it looks great. However, I wonder why Western Digital still include USB 2.0 as one of this My Book Studio Edition II as this connectivity has been left slowly with users switching over to the newer standard like USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt connection. Although they’ve included both FireWire 800/400 and eSATA, I would think it’s unwise to not getting any USB 3.0 support for this 6TB external hard drive.

Also, judging from the size, there should be two 3TB hard drive hidden inside. Unless the case can suck hot air out significantly, this drive might be having some kind of high failure rate.

However, this 6TB external hard drive is sure the largest storage solution for your home. If you haven’t got yourself a NAS system attached in your home network, this Western Digital My Book Studio Edition II might be a good choice (if you can have a mercy on the slowness, of course).
