MMO games or what has well known as Massively Multiplayer Online games are always pretty unfriendly with any handheld console up until now. However, Sony Executive has stand out and claimed that their upcoming Sony NGP (NextGen Portable) is going to sing along with those MMO games naturally. We are not sure how gamers are going to use NGP for MMOs, but the possibility is certainly there with the dual touchscreen interface on both side.
“With the console, we’re selling to an audience that already has the PS3 obviously – and by the way not the just the PS3, but in the future I can see other devices. Sony’s announced the NGP, and if that isn’t a perfect machine for doing MMOs on, then I don’t know what is,” according to Sony Online Entertainment head honcho John Smedley.
Such kind of link sounds pretty awkward for the moment. It’s good that NGP will be able to run MMO games, but only if user can access to all functionality like the one on PC system. Lack of keyboard and mouse is another strong point that handheld console doesn’t quite sing well together with the Massively Multiplayer Online games. It would be interested to see how Sony is up to their claims.
