Elgato, the well-known company in Mac community of their TV related products is releasing a new storage solution that has come with the latest Thunderbolt interface. This storage solution is an SSD, a solid state drive designed exclusively for pairing up with the speed of Intel’s Thunderbolt interface that could provide up to 10Gbps of data transfer. Elgato Thunderbolt SSD is exactly the next gen of speed demon, especially for external hard drive solution. According to the data provided by Elgato, this Thunderbolt SSD is capable of reading data at 270MBps, and will be available in 120GB and 240GB.
Sadly, Elgato is not compromising with other interface such as USB 2.0, USB 3.0 or eSATA or even a FireWire. This means that you are unable to fit Elgato Thunderbolt SSD to any system (laptop or desktop) that is not coming with thunderbolt technology.
Price wise, Elgato Thunderbolt SSD is going to hit the retailers for £350 (US$547 – 120GB) and £570 (US$892 – 240GB).
