Toshiba has unveiled yet another series of 7-inch tablet called Toshiba LT170. This tablet is going to be launched in the last week of March for about €299 in Europe market. Specification wise, Toshiba LT170 is kind of the low-end model with minimum specs. For example, instead of running wide with quad core or dual core CPU, LT170 is coming with a Freescale i.MX53 1GHz processor, 512MB RAM and 8GB internal memory.
Other specs includes 0.3-megapixel front camera, 2-megapixel rear facing camera, WiFi and bluetooth connectivity. As for the screen, it is a 7-inch capacitive multitouch screen with resolution of 1024 x 600 only. Toshiba tablet, especially the Thrive series is popular of its user replaceable battery, where none of the existing tablet in the market has this feature yet.
However, most of Toshiba tablets are not the high-end type, as it offers lower standard than what has been offered in the market. Even worse, their LT170 is not even a match with their existing Thrive tablet that come with Tegra 2 SoC. At the price mark of €299, I don’t think it could attract a lot of attention from the market. The reason is because tablet from the Mainland China is way better and cheaper. For $200 or less, you can get a tablet that is equal to an iPad 2 (I’m talking about the Teclast A10t)!
