Samsung SE-218BB: World’s Thinnest DVD Writer, A Good Match For Tablet Users

Samsung releasing a new external DVD writer called SE-218BB today as the world’s slimmest DVD writer. At the thickness of 14mm, this DVD writer has sure beat out all of the competitors such as the one from IO Data or plextor. Samsung SE-218BB is said to be 18-percent thinner and about 8-percent lighter than their previous DVD writer models.


This DVD burner can be powered by single USB port from laptop, tablet or devices that has got enough battery power and USB port. As for the technology, Samsung SE-218BB DVD writer is coming with Smart Power Technology and Buffer Under Run Technology. The Smart Power technology is the one that allows this external drive to get a sufficient power from single USB BUS power, while the BUR technology is capable of preventing errors from the writing speeds of the drive.

With its ultra small footprint, consumers will appreciate the SE-218BB sleek drive as an ideal companion for ultrabook users that quickly connects and is USB powered to access content wherever they are,” said Maverick Choi, ODD senior manager, Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. “Through its AV connectivity mode, the drive is also ideal for Tablet PC users that want to view or hear content from a disc.
