Worldwide supplier of high-performing Gaming PC components known as Corsair has recently announced a new USB 3.0 flash drive called Flash Voyager Slider. You might have seen their previous Flash Voyager models that come with separated cap. The Flash Voyager Slider is different because it’s using retractable mechanism to hide/show the USB connector. Plus, Flash Voyager Slider has already using the latest super-speed standard of USB 3.0, means it can perform at about 10 times faster (theoretically) than its predecessors.
Sadly, our source (TechPowerUp) didn’t mentioned anything about the performance at all. So we can’t give you an estimated value on how fast this drive could perform. Also, no sign of hardware encryption available in this flash drive.
“Our Flash Voyager USB 3.0 drives are known for their blazing transfer speeds and rugged reliability,” said Thi La, Vice President of Memory Products at Corsair. “Our new Flash Voyager Slider continues this tradition while adding cap-free convenience and providing outstanding value.”
Corsair Flash Voyager Slider flash drive is be available in 4 capacities: 8GB, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. While they’ve already got the 128GB model in the past for USB 2.0 interface, it seems they are not going to deliver their Slider in that capacity yet.
Compatibility wise, Corsair Flash Voyager Slider USB 3.0 flash drive is backward compatible with USB 2.0, can be used on Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac OS X and Linux OpenSource OS.
We have no word on the pricing and availability yet. Although it’s been marked “available immediately from Corsair’s network of authorized retailers”, we couldn’t find anything in the online retailers yet, except Amazon who’ve listed them, but plastered with “out of stock”.
