There is no need to buy a huge system like a tower PC anymore if you want to turn your HDTV into PC-like device. We have seen a lot of mini sized and portable system that you can buy for a cheap price and their size is really pocket-friendly. The latest example is this HDMI stick from Geanee Japan. Similar to the one we have seen in China market, the mini PC, or I should say the thumb drive computer is shaping like an ordinary flash drive/thumb drive, but there is something cool under the hood.
Base on the specification offered by the company, Geanee HDMI Stick (also known as ADH-40) has featured a 1GHz CPU (Cortex A5), 512MB RAM, 4GB of NAND memory, and USB 2.0 port. It also has WIFI connectivity in case you need to connect to the internet or any WIFI devices to the system. It’s weighing in just 24grams, 8.5-inch long only.
What’s cool is the system is running the powerful Google Android 4.0 Ice cream Sandwich OS. It’s been well-known that the OS is very user-friendly, fast performing and capable of supporting a lot of media formats as well as access to hundreds thousands of apps in the Google Play.
However, Geanee didn’t mentioned anything regarding Google Play access. However, they did listed the type of files it could play:
- Video: MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 SP, MPEG-4 ASP, MPEG-4 AVC(H.264), WMV, MKV, MOV
- Picture: JPEG, BMP, PNG, GIF
- Audio: MP3, AAC, WAV, WMA
Pretty cool for a $127 device, eh? Another interesting fact is that the device will cost 3Watts at max, while it’s capable of playback 1080p video on your HDTV. This thumb drive computer is definitely a good ‘micro-PC’ that you can carry around without feeling a thing.
