Barnes and Noble has updated their Nook Simple Touch ebook reader with a GlowLight technology. This new version has arrived at US market and will cost buyer $119 to get one. Nook Simple Touch with Glowlight will be the direct competitor with Amazon’s paperwhite reader which was released several weeks ago.
This should be the new trend for e-ink reader, however, this sort of ebook reader has a shorter battery life because half of the energy will be wasted in producing the illumination for night time reading. Personally, I don’t read book at night time in dark room. It’s bad for eyes and I don’t want to wear glass because of my addiction. However, if you are fans of reading in the dim room (some says it’s good to increase the concentration and reception), Nook Simple Touch with Glowlight is definitely a nice choice.
Also, according to Barnes&Noble themselves, thir Nook Simple Touch with Glowlight is the most versatile ebook reader ever created, and the lightest Nook ever. They also promises longer battery life, but I don’t really want to believe on it before testing this device for a couple of months.
“At just $119, our high-quality, top-rated NOOK Simple Touch with GlowLight is an unbeatable value for customers who are seeking an unparalleled, ad-free reading experience that goes from bed to beach, day or night,” said Jamie Iannone, President of Digital Products at Barnes & Noble. “NOOK Simple Touch with GlowLight is the first Reader to hit the market with built-in illumination for reading in the dark and includes a power adapter for quick and easy charging.
