Microsoft has launched their Surface tablet and fans are raving about it. However, beside the positive side which has been raved about, now it’s the turn for us to see the negative side as well. According to some of the claimed by users at SurfaceForums.net, the Microsoft Surface’s Touch cover is breaking apart, middle joint is peeling and the Microsoft Windows RT/8 Logo is wearing off.
- “My Touch Cover, in the middle at the joint to the screen is peeling. The top layer has come loose and is ruffling up,”
- “Mine, too. Right in the middle on the seam it tore open, and pretty quickly too”
- “On another note, that Microsoft logo on the back is certainly not etched or painted on very well. Mine is already rubbing off.”
It sounds pretty a serious problem, however, several have also reported that their touch covers are just fine, no damage or anything even it’s been heavily played by their kids at home. Hot Hardware said that it’s possible that a faulty batch of Surface tablet has been shipped and arrived at consumer’s hand.
Personally, I think the think touch cover is really fragile looking when compare to any keyboard case found for iPad or Android tablet. It’s definitely cool looking, however, the chance of breaking apart is higher. Also a rubbing off logo is certainly unpleasant. Why would you want to spend your hard earned money on a half-baked product? If their claims can be proven, I’m really disappointed with this tablet. I’ve never heard of logo rubbing off from a branded tablet PC yet.
