Google crews has recently set up the new statue or mascot in their office’s park together with all of the previous mascots like Gingerbread and HoneyComb.

This time, they are putting up the next gen Android OS mascot – the Ice Cream Sandwitch which look like a little dark brown guy playing in the ice field. I can say it’s the fattest mascot of all, and many holes in its face.

Google Android Ice Cream Sandwich is the long awaited OS that will bridge the gaps between the two OSes, Gingerbread for mobile phone and Honeycomb for tablet. This Android 4.0 will be the first OS from Google that have been optimized for both mobile phone and tablet interface. Soon we will get more information regarding this new OS, but for now, just enjoy the setting up of the giant yummy ice cream sandwich found in the following video:

Now I can’t keep thinking that in the future, this park is going to be a park filled with weird and fun shaped mascots if Google keep on releasing new gen of Android OS. Will the park even hold them all in the future?

Without doubt, Toshiba is also entering the tablet market with more than one tablet model. Using their popular REGZA brand, they’ve introduced the REGZA Tablet AT700 at CEATEC IT show in Japan as one of the thinnest and lightest tablet in the world. The REGZA Tablet AT700 is measuring only at 7.7mm in thickness, 558 grams only, but it has a large 10.1-inch touchscreen display. According to Toshiba, the tablet will running Google Android 3.2 OS with 5MP digital camera. No further details offered, so we don’t have the information on the pricing and availability at the moment…

It’s been awhile we haven’t heard about Onda’s product. Today, we have found that they have updated their product lines with new Android tablet called VX610W. This Android tablet is coming with 7-inch touchscreen display (support 800 x 480p resolution), an ARM Cortex-A10 CPU that is faster than average low priced tablet at 1.5GHz, paired up with Mali 400 3D GPU, 512MB DDR3 RAM and a limited 8GB of internal storage.

Thanks to the 3D GPU support, this tablet has come with a direct 2D-to-3D converter. Also it has the suport of 2160p Super HD video playback where you can watch the super smooth video directly on the 7-inch screen.

Onda VX610W Android tablet is powered by the latest Android Gingerbread (2.3) for optimized performance. Thanks to the specification and OS, This Onda VX610W Android tablet is capable of reaching 8 hours of continuous video playback, or about 5 hours of gaming sessions. It could last longer if you are using this tablet for music playback. You can expect up to 35-hours of playback on single recharge.

Of course, the Specs and OS are not the only thing that work at the rear preserving the battery life. Onda XV610W Android tablet is also coming with a battery utilize PMU power management and DVFS technology for improving the battery life.

Battery life aside, I’ve said it has a limited 8GB internal storage, haven’t I? Yes, It seems Onda is not releasing this model into various kind of storage options. However, Onda has provided a microSD card slot in this Android tablet where you can expand the storage size up to 40GB (8GB internal + 32GB microSD card). That should be enough for storing a lot of documents and ebooks.

Other features that you can find on Onda VX610W Android tablet are including the capability to connect to the nearest hotspot (WiFi), has a TV-out port, support Flash 10.3 for web browsing convenient and a built-in stereo speakers.

Surprisingly, I don’t see an HDMI or MHL port listed in the spec list. However, for a tablet that worth $94, I guess you really can’t hope for more, can you?

Chinavasion has a new Android tablet stocked up in their inventory. They call it Tabulus tablet which running Android 2.2 Eclair. Unlike any premium Android tablet in the market, this tablet can make phone calls using the Eclair system. Specification wise, Tabulus tablet is featuring 7-inch TFT resistive touchscreen display, 800MHz VIA WM8650 processor, limited 256MB RAM, 4GB internal storage, but it has a microSD card slot that could support up to 32GB in total.

This Tabulus tablet is also coming with a SIM card slot that support quad-band GSM, built-in-front facing 0.3-megapixel webcam, has USB 2.0 port, two hight quality stereo speakers, 2400mAh rechargeable battery, as well as 2.5mm headset jack.

The Tabulus Android tablet is available now for $129.98 on Chinavasion. Definitely cheap and it has come with 12-month warranty.

Vizio has announced the pricing for their 8-inch Android tablet for awhile and it’s at the level of $349 a pop. However, today we have just received a new update that Vizio has reduce its price to just $299.

Specification wise, Vizio 8-inch tablet has come with 8-inch touchscreen display with 1024 x 768 pixel resolution, powered by 1GHz processor (single core), 2GB storage, support GPS and the capability to turn the tablet into an universal remote control for home theater devices.

Obviously, the performance is not high, but most Android Apps should run well except the HD version. This tablet will be available in various places, including Amazon, Wal-mart, and Costco.

GooApple – which sounds like the mixture of Google and Apple and it is one anyway. Chinese cloner has made a mix of the most popular stuff from both companies, which is the iPhone 4 from Apple and Android OS from Google.

From the source it indicates that GooApple is a low end smartphone that has the look of an iPhone 4, while the software is running Android OS. Interestingly, GooApple has a cute logo of Android with Apple heart.

GooApple is running Android 2.2 Froyo, but the interface has been modified so it looks similar to iOS’ interface. Under the hood, GooApple smartphone is powered by 600MHz Qualcomm processor with unspecified RAM size and storage size. There is a 5-megapixel camera at rear size and 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display.

It’s not too shabby anyway. It’s just not up to the standard of the real iPhone 4. Apart from that, this smartphone is quite good actually.

We have known how Google is ruling the search engine market share. It’s as if they are the God of internet where every webmasters must pray upon if they want to live a good life. Not only that, the company seems restlessly trying to own other market share as well. With their development of smartphone/tablet Operating System – the Android OS, they’ve now close to eating up 50 percent of worldwide smartphone cake (market share)!

Well, no wonder. They are rich anyway. According to the report from research firm Canalys who tracked 56 countries around the world:

Android, the number one platform by shipments since Q4 2010, was also the strongest growth driver this quarter, with Android-based smart phone shipments up 379% over a year ago to 51.9 million units. Growth was bolstered by strong Android product performances from a number of vendors, including Samsung, HTC, LG, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, ZTE and Huawei. The final country-level data delivered to clients today shows there were particularly strong performances from Android devices in APAC countries, such as South Korea, where Android holds an 85% platform share, and Taiwan, where it has 71%.

That is an amazing stats. With Android Apps in the market has surpassing Apple Apps, people might just opt for the Android version as Android Phone has a lot more choice of cell phone models.

Android OS is renowned in the smartphone and tablet market because it’s made for them anyway. However, it seems the operation system has started to go into other market because now we can see that they are available and running several media player gadgets in the market.

The latest media player that uses Android OS is from AMEX Digital. AMEX Digital introduced their MP-G7 Android TV media player as a new solution to enjoy Full HD videos and online interaction. This MP-G7 Android TV media player is powered by dual core ARM Cortex processor, but we are not informed with the speed of the processing. However, thanks to that processor, MP-G7 is capable of supporting full HD resolution at 1920 x 1080p with integrated HDMI on the device.

AMEX Digital MP-G7 is also supporting USB devices like keyboard and mouse for easy navigation. The media player has included 500GB 2.5-inch HDD, but you can expand it further using SD memory card. It also come with Ethernet and WiFi connectivity when you want to go online for chatting or watching online movies.

For you who’ve been spoiled by the Swiftkey keyboard app on Android smartphones, you can still use the Swiftkey for typing on the latest Android HoneyComb tablet. The company has upgraded the application so it could be used on tablet interface, and it’s quite thoughtful by splitting the keyboard into two half and placed it at both left and right end where our thumbs can easily to the texting tasks.

Also, notice that the three tab at the top of the keyboard and numeric pad (middle), it’s a friendly interface for choosing word suggestion to speed up your typing. Unless you are typing in a language that the system doesn’t support, those tabs should be extremely helpful.

After the news of Viewsonic ViewPad 7 coming soon to the US, now this massive phone has properly landed on the land of the American.

Viewsonic ViewPad 7 Android tablet is going to cost you $479 on this side, and it’s coming with most of the specs that we have mentioned in the previous articles. That means the specs is including 512MB RAM, 512MB flash memory, full-sized SIM card slot, microSD card slot, front and rear facing VGA camera, G-sensor, A-GPS, 3G, WiFi, bluetooth, and Android OS 2.2 Froyo.

Sadly, there is a little bit decrease in processor power from the 1GHz SnapDragon CPU (European version) to 600Mzh Qualcomm MSM7227 processor (US version). There is no explanation on why ViewSonic decrease the processor speed, but we are assuming that they want to reserve more battery life so users can use it for an extended time frame.

According to Andy Rubin, the founder of Android OS at the Dive Into Mobile event stated that Motorola latest Android tablet is running Android OS 3.0 (Honeycomb) which will be released next year, and it’s coming with never seen dual-core 3D processor as well as NVIDIA graphic processor.

This Motorola Android tablet prototype shown in the picture will be available in 7-inch and 10-inch sizes, and the UI will be very friendly for a newbies in this tablet environment.

Also, Google Map for Mobile 5.0 that offering Navigation, Dynamic Map Drawing functions and Offline Maps will be available as a special features for HoneyComb OS.

Unfortunately, since it’s just a prototype, we have no information on the release date and pricing yet.

So, what’s cooking in Google’s kitchen? Over at GoogleMobile Twitter, the crews has tweeted that they are baking something sweet, which I presume as they are currently working on the release of their new sweet Android Gingerbread.

Well, all that left for us to do now is to wait, wait and wait. Since Google released nothing but a playful statement on their Mobile twitter account, guess we can’t hope so much that the Gingerbread will available as soon as tomorrow or in this week. Just wish Google won’t let it out of the Oven next year on 2011. That sweet cookies would be bitter.

Since it’s a rebranded, Telstra T-Touch Tab share the same specification as Huawei S7 android tablet and will get the Android 2.1 OS running on the core.

Best Buy in the Black Friday is going to out their offering of Samsung Galaxy Tab for $549.99, in oppose of the regular price of $599.99. Vodafone have launched three new smartphones powered by Android using their own brand name. The phones are known as the Vodafone 945, Vodafone 553 and Vodafone 543 Miss Sixty Edition Android phones.

This image above is the Vodafone 945, a smartphones that will comes with 3.2-inch 240×400 capticitive touchscreen, 5-MP camera + LED Flash, running with Android 2.1, has 300MB internal memory and expandable via microSD/SDHC card.

Vodafone 945 is also supporting Bluetooth, GPS, WiFi, and HSDPA connection, and it will be available in black and silver color choices.

Now this one is the Vodafone 553. Vodafone 553 Android phone is a side-slider QWERTY phone, means it has a full QWERTY keyboard access instead of using virtual keyboard for typing. The phone has 2MP camera, expandable storage via microSD card, should be coming with Android 2.1 too, and the phone has Vodafone’s 360 People address book that would bringss various contacts into one place. O2, the UK cell phone network operator has brought the Samsung Galaxy Tab Android tablet to the UK market and the device will be priced at £599. There is no contract needed for getting this Samsung galaxy tab tablet via O2, but the tablet will be paired with O2′ range of Pay & Go Mobile broadband plans.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab Android tablet will be available directly via O2 online shop and their stores as well starting this November the first. However, since there is no contract deal or whatsoever, perhaps Amazon UK has the greater deal where you can actually get it for £529 at a discounted price.
