ASUS has caught in a conflict with the Android modding community recently because the the community has found out that ASUS has properly encrypted their Transformer Prime tablet so no unofficial or unsigned ROMs could be installed.

This by far is the first case on a WiFi-only device to get such thing as encrypted bootloader. It’s a common case for Android 3G Smartphones because the carrier would like to protect their device from modification of 3G/4G radio signal on their network, but a WiFi-only device is certainly a waste of effort.

Of course, we are not sure what is ASUS’s intention, but it’s sure has set some ‘flames’ in the modding community. On a general usage, ASUS Transformer Prime is amazing. However, you won’t be able to tweak it further if you’ve got the skills.

ASUS Transformer Prime is really selling well. We have found several big outlets like Amazon or Newegg has run out of stock just a several days after launching in the US market. Now, rumor says that ASUS Transformer Prime would be delayed for Italian market as they manufacturer can’t produce enough units to fulfill the raving demands. It would seems that Italian will get the share later in January 2012 instead of the pre-determined date on December 19th, 2011.

To cover up the delay, ASUS is promising that the Transformer Prime will be pre-installed with Google Android 4.0 ICS instead of Android 3.2 Honeycomb OS. Users could free from the risk of self updating the OS and enjoy the best and most advanced Android OS up to date.

Though there is no idea when the country in Asia region would get the share…

Even more details has been giving by Ritchie on his Ritchie’s Room blog about the upcoming ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime Android tablet. It’s been quite interesting to see how this tablet is going to crash the competition with its outstanding specification and features. Now after the first look, I can feel that ASUS will make a big come back with this second generation of tablet after their first transformer pad.

Credit: Ritchie’s Room

What’s quite interesting to know is the sound quality. As what Ritchie has said in his blog, ASUS Transformer Prime is “unexpectedly loud and clear”, despite of its small speaker allocation. “the speaker is as effective as anything I’ve experienced so far on tablets.” said Ritchie, “In fact, I found that by holding the tablet in a way that cups the grill actually enhances the audio quality even more.”

It’s quite good to know that even an onboard speaker system without premium treatment could work well. Sadly, the video above didn’t show us how well the multimedia player work, and how well the sounding system is. We’ll wait for the upcoming video as Ritchie has stated in the comment section of his blog that he will be testing out the multimedia option of ASUS Transformer Prime.

Go to Ritchie’s Room for more details of his first look review.

Yes, Amazon is now taking pre-order for this tablet device for $499 (32GB) and $599 (64GB). Of course, the price is excluding the keyboard dock as it’s an optional accessory. The keyboard dock itself (TF201 Mobile Docking) is sold separately for $149, which could also add more battery life to the ASUS Transformer prime that total up to 18 hours per full charge.

However, it’s sad that Amazon haven’t published the shipping date at the moment. It’s been told that the tablet will be delivered in December, but no exact date given yet. Hopefully, it will have no delay and will be just in time for Christmas. As a refresh, ASUS Transformer Prime is the most advanced tablet computer in the world with Tegra 3 SoC and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS. This tablet is coming with 10.1-inch IPS display that support up to 1280 x 1024 pixels resolution. You can choose either 32GB or 64GB model, has 1GB DDR2 RAM and come pre-installed with Google Android 3.2 honeycomb where you can later update it to Android 4.0 ICS.

NVIDIA has just published a new video demo to show us how cool the Ice Cream Sandwich OS on ASUS Transformer Prime tablet. The movement/transition on the interface is absolutely as smooth as iOS version on iPad 2. NVIDIA made this video to let us know how strong their Tegra 3 is, and at the same time they test how the hardware could play a 1080p video smoothly on ASUS Transformer Prime tablet.

It’s obvious anyway, Tegra 3 could play 40Mbps – 60Mbps streams while Tegra 2 is only capable of playback 5Mbps videos. In the video demo above, NVIDIA crew show us how he can group icons together by dragging one to the top of another, where the ICS (a.k.a. Ice Cream Sandwich – Android 4.0) OS would automatically create a new folder grouping the icons neatly.

The demo also showing us how the Tegra 3 works in gaming interface. The hardware could actually showing a much more realistic water effect, motion blurs and more with Tegra 3 SoC. ASUS Transformer Prime with the support of Tegra 3 and ICS OS is believed to be able to grab a lot of attention in the market, especially for those who want to find better alternative to iPad 2.

ASUS Transformer Prime, when it’s launched later in next month, will be the highest performance of all, has the longest battery with the help of the keyboard dock, and most advanced tablet in the market. Can’t wait to see what kind of review will be given to this tablet in December. It could be a nice Christmas Gift as well!

Looking for a tough and rugged tablet computer? ASUS Tough is the answer. Yes, this is the new Android Honeycomb tablet offered by ASUS as one of the series with tough and rugged enclosure/case. The ASUS Tough is both water and dust resistant, and obviously it’s drop-resistant thanks to the rubberized bezel and strips across the back. It can still survive drops from the height of 76cm based on the numerous tests done on this tablet.

On the specification list, ASUS Tough Android tablet is quite common. Powered by 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor, 1GB RAM, 7-inch touchscreen display, 16GB onboard storage, expandable via microSD card, has 5-megapixel camera, WiFi, bluetooth and GPS navigation also available. One of the plus point is the inclusion of WiMAX connectivity. If your area has been covered by this super fast wireless internet connection, you can enjoy them by using this ASUS Tough Android tablet.

Sadly, even it’s been on sale in Japan, we have no idea when this tablet would be shipped to the US of A.

If you have been using both smartphone and tablet for your work, chance are, you might have thought that it would be great if you can have both of them carried in one piece where you don’t have to get a separated case or bag to touted them. ASUS offered such a solution and it’s been officially released as the name of Padfone.

Generally speaking, ASUS Padfone is a tablet with slot where you can fit in another ASUS phone for hybrid purpose. The phone will be docked at the rear side of the tablet, and it’s protected with a special case that has a small opening for the camera lens to work.

According to what we have read in our source, This ASUS Padfone is two individual devices that could be used separately. However, they can super-charged each other when docked together, like the smartphone will provide dedicated rear facing camera for the tablet for video recording. However, as far as how these two devices can super-charged each other in term of performance, we don’t have a clue yet.

ASUS haven’t released the exact specifications for both devices yet, and how they are going to work on each other is still a mystery. We do hope that the hybrid mode could at least double up the overall performance. But it should be about the phone to provide the 3G/4G functionality while the tablet itself is purely an offline-mode tablet.

As far as the screen size, ASUS Padfone tablet is having 10-inch display and the smartphone is having 4-inch display. It’s such a waste that you can’t really enjoy extra screen when they are on the hybrid-mode and the smartphone is completely hidden inside the tablet.

We will keep you posted once we have got enough information from ASUS.

As for the 3D monitor line, it doesn’t come with either IPS or VA panel. It’s a normal 1080p 27-inch TN panel display coded as VG278H that sports the older LED-backlit technology. We are not sure if 3D technology is worth the company investment since there are some sort of declining in the demand recently. 3D panel is not as hot as it was, even people has started to aim for a Smart TV enabled HDTV instead of 3D TV.

As for now, ASUS haven’t announced the pricing details for those monitors yet.

The 27-inch display is LED-backlit panel, and ASUS has equipped an unique infrared emitter that let gamers play games or watch movie without the need for cables and connectors. Though I’m not clear how this infrared emitter works, but it sounds pretty cool for wireless life.
