Smallest video camera has been developed by engineers at Fraunhofer Institute for Reliability and Microintegration worked together with Awaiba GmbH and the Fraunhofer Institue for Applied Optics and Precision Engineering. The video camera is about as small as a grain of salt, or to be exact it’s 1 cubic millimeter only.

Despite of its small size, this smallest video camera has a resolution of 62,500 pixel, and capable of delivering high resolution video of any recording. What’s the best is that this smallest video camera won’t be an expensive camera to produce. According to the developers, this camera could be a perfect fit for medical. One-use disposal is made possible similar like syringe needle. Also, it could be a very potential spy cam for spying people without any obvious attention from the target.

Frauhofer Institute has planned to roll out this smallest video camera into the market next year 2012.

While everybody is expanding their capability up to 20-Megapixel right now (for DSLR camera), guys in UJI (Universitat Jaume I) Optics Resear Group (GROC) in Spain has going in the reverse direction by going down to the 1 pixel sensor state while maintaining the capability of recording high quality images.

With this 1 pixel sensor camera, the GROC team has successfully snaps 2D pictures in quality. The proof is the above image. They’ve capture their UJI logo and the result is pretty good. Later in the development, this 1 pixel sensor camera will be used in health sector, such as to investigate and capture internal biological tissues.

This fly-inspired 360-degree 3D Camera prototype is pretty nerdy looking, however, it works exactly like a fly’s eye. The camera can see the world in 360 degree and you will never find the blank spot when it’s installed in the ceiling or wall.

There are bunch of mini camera connected to the system and it could be used for an All-direction teleconferencing or for easier film making process. No idea where the creator is going to implement this prototype but it should be pretty easy to find its own ‘niche’ like a spy camera with disco ball shape or surveillance camera installed on the ceiling.

We have seen some of the concept (made into a video) of iPhone 4G, and it seems the front-facing camera is getting a spotlight and everybody who use iPhone would love to get this update on the next generation of release.

This is still a rumor, however, there is a strong fact supporting this matter. According to Apple Insider, the rumor appeared because of Apple newly revealed patent application which has been entitled as “Apparatus of Method for Compensating for Variations in Digital Cameras’.

This Patent application talk about how to improve the camera modules invested in the current iPhone and iPod models, which probably will lead to a better solution for users and getting a front-facing camera here is highly possible. But rumor remains a rumor. No certainty yet on this matter so you shouldn’t hope so much on it.

Samsung is sure aggressive this month for their Digital Camera releases. After releasing two compact digital camera models, they’ve rolled out another series of digital camera coded as SL630. This SL630 is also known as the PL80 in Europe market.

As the matter of fact, The Samsung SL630 digital camera carries 12.2 megapixel sensor, 5x optical zoom and 2.7-inch LCD screen. Unlike HZ35W, this SL630 did have a lower specs especially the optical zoom. However, Samsung SL630 digital camera has come with some features that will be a nice assisting feature for newbies so they can take their picture confidently.

Image stabilization, optical and digital image stabilizer, Smart Auto Mode (scene recognition technology) are all the technology that would help user take a better images. Plus, Samsung SL630 digital camera has comes with a Perfect Portrait System where it can automatically fix red-eye, can detect blink and face. Samsung has the most brilliant camera design for the era! There is a new rumor floating around the web recently about the next generation of iPod – the generation 5 will comes with an integrated mini camera at the rear face. I’m not sure it’s true or not, but potentially it’s something achievable if Apple has such an intention.

It looks just like the current 4G physic design, no change at all other than the added camera at rear side. According to the source, the new line of iPod new generation will be launched in this September and with video recording feature attached. Pretty inviting and promising for iPod lover.
