It might be pretty overwhelming, but that’s the fact offered by IBM. They’ve just claimed the world’s title of the fastest CPU ever made until today. At the level of 5.2GHz, the IBM’s Z196 Processor could obviously run anything you throw at it in miliseconds count.

Looking back to my laptop, it’s really pitiful at the level of 2.53Ghz only. And it’s about twice as fast as a 2.66Ghz Processor! IBM is using 45nm fabrication technology to give birth to this new speed demon that is standing at the top of the world right now.

The processor itself features 1.4 billion of transistors and it’s going to crunch more than 50 millions of instructions every second. Imagine if you can undress and dress yourself 50 millions time in one second. That’s a BIG WOW.

Despite of the Huge revenue loss (NT$1.44 billion) on this year’s first half, VIA is not getting discouraged. They’ve just announced that they’re now developing and preparing the new dual-core Nano CPUs and Quad-core CPU by the end of 2011. Aside from new CPUs in 2011, it’s also reported that VIA is going to release their new chipset VN11 that is the first graphic core to support DirectX 11 features.

It sounds promising for them to start making an impact for the market as they’ve always stayed low in the low-mid stream market since their start.

However, with the market long dominated by the two kings Intel and AMD, there is some sort of difficulty for VIA to squeeze in. Unless they are targeting the different market segment and niches, they’ll probably going to loss even more in the future.

The great news for AMD CPU overclocker or enthusiast. Some folks have managed to break the world’s fastest clock speed for Desktop PC’s CPU at 7GHz using AMD’s Phenom II processor. This is *very fast, consider 5Ghz is the usual overclocked CPU speed that have been accomplished by several experts OC-er. Now, 7Ghz was able to achieve largely thanks to the liquid helium cooling material that could hold the AMD Phenom II temperature and make it cooler. This impressive mod and overclocking result has been recorded and made into a movie clip which you can watch it below:

Great Job, Guys! AMD is really one of the super processor that you can go wild with it.

This rumor is declined by Intel but Gigabyte has clearing stating that Gulftown as Core i9 is disallowed in their latest ‘Beats Me If You Dare’ competition.

Intel Gulftown uses LGA1366 socket, so probably user will have no hard time upgrading their processor if they have one of the modern motherboard. According to the discussion, this Six-Core CPU is going to cost you about $1,500+ a pop, but there is no news yet on the performance and what is the different between Core i9 and the previous i-series.

This is not really the usual deal article that we posted on our deal section. But it’s kind of price drop announced by AMD saying they will sold their AMD Quad Core CPU, to be exactly the Athlon II X4 for $99 only. This is such a nice treat by AMD for those who build PC by their own.

According to Gadgetell, the price is absolutely the lowest, $50 cheaper that Intel’s Core 2 Quad Q8200. If you have yourself an AMD system, perhaps this is a great change to upgrade your PC so you can actually run Windows 7 next month.
