We have seen a lot of wall clock design in the past. Some are cool, but there also clock with weird design like Koziol Pip Clock, 5-9 clock, and QlockTwo clock. They are so unique that people with unique taste would want to get them for their home. However, if you are not the type that sing along well with unique/weird stuffs and rather want to have a clock that you can customize your own, you can check out this DIY Wall Clock from Curiosite.

DIY wall clock is coming with all of the essential parts for a clock, but they are all separated so you have to put the puzzle piece together before you can use it. It comes with the hour and minute hands, as well as the 12 numbers with optional dots for styling. There are all backed with an adhesive rearplate, which mean you can stick it anywhere you like without limitation.

If you want a rather unique style, you can omit the number like putting only the 12, 3, 6, and 9 on the wall, or even going crazy with random number.

DIY Wall Clock

The best thing about DIY accessories is that they offer you the chance to design them according to your own personal taste and how you plan on using them.
And that’s exactly the case with this wall clock. It’s made up of several pieces with adhesive backing, including numbers 1 through 12, four dots and a set of hands. You decide the rest.

You can stick the clock on whatever backdrop you choose so it’ll match your decor.

You can also organize the numbers in different ways; there’s no reason they have to form a circle. Just use your imagination!

This DIY Wall Clock is currently available at Curiosite for $28.39.

The mad scientist called it the “Kraftwerk-Style LED tie” because it uses the Kraftwerk-inspired LED system on the LED arrays. I’m not the technical guy, so perhaps I’ll just direct you to the page that explain everything about this system, as well as the guide to make your own geeky necktie with LED lights.

This is the solar powered papercraft bobblehead action figures that comes with several different shapes. This includes the funny looking square head ninja, skeleton, tiger face in WWF field, and sucky Vampire.

They are cute, but the downside is that you have to DIY create yourself before you can use it as your car, or desk decoration. This papercraft bobblehead is coming in a kit, complete with pre-cut paper parts and instructions to assemble them. It will took 20 to 25 minutes to set things up.

Want to be the first to know that there is an earthquake in your area? You can follow what Bob Davis has done with his own DIY Earthquake Detection gadget.

This earthquake detector will monitor the closest magnetic fields to attempt earthquake prediction. Though I’m not geek enough to know how this stuff work, but it would be great if we can create one for ourselves. The device is taking a good use of UGN3503 hall effect devices and an Arduino.

I came up with this idea over 10 years ago because animals behave strangely before earthquakes. They know something is about to happen. I also know animals can navigate magnetically. If you put baby sea turtles in a pool they will swim east to west. If you add a magnet the will arc around it. That why you can take a dog to California and it will find its way back to NY. Then I discovered that there are many magnetic abnormalities around the fault lines. At that point I added the quartz into the equation and came up with this method of predicting earthquakes. How accurate it can be in predicting earthquakes is yet to be determined.

Head on over to Bob Davis’ blog for more details.

Have you ever look at your door’s top edge when trying to find your lost thing? Well, no one would have thought about that area when trying to find their stuff. But it’s also one of the very best opportunity to hide your stuff there. The most dangerous spot is the safest spot. Sean Michael Ragan has blogged about the door’s top sweet hidden spot that you can consider to hide your important stuffs there. It’s a part of Makeprojects and I think it’s pretty cool.

It takes no rocket science to do. This project is called Doortop Stash, taking the advantages of the door’s thickness, you can actually make a deep hole and insert a tube-like storage where you can hide your keys, USB flash drive, or emergency money.

What does the top edge of say, your utility closet door look like? I’m betting that you’ve never seen it, even if you’ve lived in your home for awhile. And although there’s not a lot of room to hide stuff in there, well, if you’re like me, the stuff you want to hide is usually on the smaller side. Not many people think of the space inside the door as a hiding spot, but it’s right there in easy reaching distance when you need to get to it. And it’s devious enough that, yes, I think this trick will still be effective even after I blog it all over the web.

You’ll need a suitable hollow-core interior door, a cigar tube, a few tools, and some other odds ‘n’ ends.

Made its show at CES 2011, MakerBot is one of the ‘less-expensive’ 3D printer that you could find in the market. For just $1,225 per unit, you can own one of this 3D printer for printing your product prototype after loaded the machine with the required raw materials. MakerBots can print on ABS, HDPE and PLA plastic and MakerBot can print out anything you want as long as it’s not larger than 100mm x 100mm x 100mm.

Well, can’t blame it why it won’t print out a larger stuff. It’s actually quite matching the price that you should pay for the machine that won’t break your bank account. Also, to save you money, the manufacturer will ship MakerBot in a disassembled condition. You have to self-assemble them together before you can actually use it for your printing project.

None of us has thought that even breathing regularly can generate new eco-power by using a simple DIY device, but the creator of this breath-powered USB charger did thought so. He has managed to create a simple but useful USB charger and strap it to his chest, and when breathing in, the device will harvest small amount of energy (about 50mW) with the help of a belt that will pull and spin the gears in the device.

The energy generated by this device might not sufficient for recharging a cell phone, but it could be improved in the future. Perhaps in the next decade, we can buy an energy generator torso for recharging our cell phone on-the-go. Plus, if they can add up the Solar recharging and kinetic technology to generate more powere, future’s mobile people can enjoy their outdoor activities as much as they like without worrying about energy problem for their gadgets.

Yep, the title say it all. It’s the result when iPad met with a smart kitchen dweller. Alan Daly, the smart guy in this modding has show off his magnificent skill to turn his warm-heart kitchen into a high-tech kitchen (with love). He used a jigsaw cutters to dig a hole in his cabinet in his kitchen, and turn the blank face cabinet door into a touch-interactive surface where he can browse the web searching for tasty receipt for cooking (I guess the primary purpose would be to search for cooking receipts).

He is actually using his cabinet door to be the “case” of his iPad. To minimize the risk, Alan Daly has prepared a replacement cabinet door in case his project failed him. Although his wife thought he was nuts to cut and make hole in her kitchen out of sudden, but with God’s bless, The iPad Kitchen Cabinet Mod is successful and his final result is magnificent! I’m sure his wife will love him even more thanks to his simple DIY project.

This is the most simple DIY project that I’ve ever seen and it’s one of the simplest way to organize your cable plugs. Using a simple binder clip (black model with metal handles) and a tabletop with edges can help you manage you plugs such as the USB connector, LAN cable or audio jacks. Just simply clip the binder to the tabletop’s edge, released the metal handle and you can slip in any size of plug and let it hanging in the handle’s end. Check out the following images for more details:

No extra money to spend (if you have spare binder clips in your office/home office) and it’s simple to DIY. The only requirement that is pretty crucial is the table. If you have got a metal table with no edge to clip on, this DIY project is not for you.

A cool designer name Konstantin Datz has designed a new rubik’s cube which is exclusively made for people are visually impaired. It has two models, the Braille Box and Brain Doom. Braille Box uses the braille text patterns to give the blinds the idea which side has what pattern in exchange of the usual colorful interface. Meanwhile, the Brain Doom’s Rubik’s Cube is helping blind people solving the puzzle based on the objects on each square (such as screws, knobs or silicone gels).

This Rubik’s Cubes for people with blindness is still a concept at this point, but you can actually make one for your disabled friends because it’s pretty easy to make one (especially the Brain Doom model). You’ll just need some effort to DIY and create one similar to the images above.

Here is another digital clock with unfair competition. Like what I’ve said last year on the Pong Clock by Buro Vromkrijgers, this DIY MONOCHRON Pong Clock is also getting an unfair treat where the left side player always playing with the winning attitude. However, if you are just love this kind of clock that could bring back your childhood first gaming experience, you might want to have on of this DIY Pong Clock kit where you can actually build one from scratch.

The kit comes with unassembled diode, capacitor, resistor and any other elements that you’ll need to assemble a working digital clock. You do not need to worry about your incapability to assemble the parts. There is a full detail of description, HowTo and videos at AdaFruit site.

This Pong Clock is powered 9VDC power supply for 220V or 110V and everything has been included inside the box. It’s now selling for $80 a pop, but due to the popularity, it’s currently out of stock and the product is expected to be in stock on Wednesday 10 March, 2010.

CMYK Lampshades is made of laser cut acrylic and there are 21 circles with different diameter to form one lampshade. The result when you installed it on your ceiling is similar to the following picture:

Notice there will be a reflection from the Acrylic that somehow making the ceiling to have a Circular pattern. Looks very nice, and one lampshade should be enough to fully illuminate a small living room.

This laptop stand was made with only a few bars of metal, metal screws, a hacksaw and leather strip with the total price sum up to be around $8. Looks cool indeed, simple enough for anyone to DIY if they have the materials. Perhaps you would say that the laptop stand lack in stability, you can actually make the bars holding the laptop longer or just make two of them, holding your laptop side by side. That should do it.
