What an octopus has to do with an Earbuds? Well, According to Donghee Suh, it appears that his concept was inspired by the suction cup on Octopus’ tentacle. Octopus Earbuds is using some kind of integrated suction cups with the ear tips, so that you can use it to stick on a flat surface like the iPhone rearplate or touchscreen area to manage the cable without the help of additional cable manager.

The Octopus earbuds are fitted with a silicon flap, which retract to become an impromptu suction cup. This ways you can easily wrap the cord around your phone/device and hook on the earbuds to the screen, in a neat fashion.

It’s really a simple solution that should have been produced since long time ago. Glad that Donghee Suh, the red dot design concept winning has brought this idea up to the surface. Hopefully, we can start getting this type of earbuds in the upcoming years.

Check out this nice little earbuds designed by Japanese Studio Nendo. It’s a design for Elecom’s Otokurage earbuds that looks like a translucent jelly fishes. Well, it’s a Jellyfish earbuds anyway!

‘Otokurage’ means Sound of JellyFish (‘Oto’ = sound, ‘Kurage’ = jellyfish) that obviously what Elecom want to offer. It’s built with silicone based caps and it’s available in variety of colors. Judging from the image above, It should be pretty comfortable to stuffed into our ears. The silicone looks soft and flexible, should be able to fit in different size of ear hole. But the company will also bundle the Otokurage earphones with different type of smaller ear tips.

They look so nice in variety of colors! Sadly, it won’t glow in the dark like what I wish to have if I’m going to get something like this. This Otokurage earbuds is reported to be available by the end of May, but it might be available in Japan only.

The the common earphone design that we have seen so far for volume control is using a help of a small individual volume adapter linked in between the 3.5mm and the earbuds. The latest venture of Sony Ericsson is a pair of headphone that looks quite simple, but it has got an extra ordinary feature for its user.

Known as Son Ericsson MH907, the headphone has been equipped with motion activated technology where the user can play or pause their music by just removing one or equipping one of the earbud.

Earphones is a audio hardware, the word ‘hard’ has transformed the device into a non-feminine and women who love to wear them looks more ‘chic’ instead of ‘beautiful’. Perhaps Japanese researcher has seen this dilemma, so they have made a special, fashionable earphones for the ladies to gives more ‘beauty’ edge for them.
