Buffalo has launched their first 3TB external storage with USB 3.0 interface support. The storage device is known a HD-LBV3.OTU3, which is one of the eco-friendly external hard drive in the market which the power consumption can be reduced from 18W to 1.6W only using its bundled software called ecoManager.

The software will help the hard drive spin down the drive when idling, which lowered the power consumption significantly.

This Buffalo HD-LBV3.OTU3 is weighing at 1KG, and will be launched in Japan in this month for the equivalent price of $320.

[CES 2011] Samsung has just released three new types of USB 3.0 external hard drives in CES 2011 with two of those series are made for portable market and the other one is for desktop usage.

All of those USB 3.0 external hard drives are featuring superspeed 5Gbps transfer rate, which let you transfer faster than USB 2.0 interface. For example, you can use these Samsung USB 3.0 hard drives to transfer 25GB HD Movie in just 4 minutes, instead of 13 minutes with USB 2.0 480Mbps interface.

The above image is the 1 of 3 new lines of Samsung external hard drives. It’s a portable type that is pretty similar with standard portable drive, but it’s USB 3.0 interface and it has been pre-loaded with backup and security software for secure encryption. This series will be available in three different color tastes such as Onyx Black, Sapphire Blue and Coral Pink. It also has a nice pattern to show their own uniqueness.

Pictured above is the 2 of 3 Samsung portable hard drives. This series is a bit different from the first one, especially the wavy matte finish on the exterior design. It looks quite unique and you can easily distinguish this series with the other series in Samsung product line. Also, this portable drives will be available in size up to 1TB that other series are missing, and are also available in four colors choices like Brown black, Noble beige, Clay orange, and Mist gray.

The last one of the new hard drive line is a desktop hard drive. IT looks pretty classic with a fabric-patterned enclosure, and it’s way bigger than those two just now because it’s using 3.5-inch HDD instead of 2.5-inch laptop HDD. However, you can only find capacity bigger than 1TB in this option because this Samsung desktop hard drive will be available starting from 1TB, 1.5TB and 2TB. There are only two color choices for this version, which has been shown at the picture above: Brown Black and Noble Beige.

These newcomers will be hitting the US market starting April 2011. Pricing will be revealed when the time has come.

I’ve never seen a nice looking external HDD case with twin big blue-glowing cooling fan yet. At least, until today I’ve found one! That’s the new Thermaltake Max 5G that has been equipped with a nice cooling system to chill out the HDD stored inside. No matter what kind of beast stored inside, I guess such as cooling system cool tame it out!

The enclosure is designed in the standing upright manner, the twin cooling fan is spinning at 800RPM, equipped with blue-LED lights to gives cool feeling. Thermaltake Max 5G supports any 3.5-inch SATA I or SATA II HDD (or SSD) and it’s one of the enclosure that has support USB 3.0 superspeed interface.

Unfortunately, there is no further details on the pricing yet.

After releasing their BRP-U6 external blu-ray writer last year, I-O Data has updated this burner to support BD-RE media disc.

This I-O Data BRP-U6 External blu-ray burner is now capable of burning BD-RE disc at 2x speed and 2x for BD-RE Dual Layer. While the other speed left unchanged, such as BD-R DL at 4x, BD-R at 6x, BD-ROM at 6x, DVD -R/+R discs at 8x and DVD -RW/+RW at 6x, plus 5x on DVD-RAM discs.

Expect to see I-O DATA BRP-U6 external blu-ray writer to ship in December for MSRP of 22,100 Yen ($266USD).

I have to give my applause to this new hardware because it looks so cool, especially with the blend of white and black color and added gloss effect. It might not the most nice looking external burner I’ve ever seen, but LG BE12LU30 External Blu-ray burner is simply elegant.

This LG BE12LU30 is featuring a nice looking frontal design, especially the beveled looking drive tray and the dime but contrast blue-illumination shines through the black case. It’s elegant looking from the other side, but not to forget that LG BE12LU30 is also having an inner ‘beauty’.

LG BE12LU30 external blu-ray writer is capable of writing/burning Dual layers blu-ray discs at 12x, and DVDs at 16x, which is one of the fastest burning drive in the market. It also has a LightScribe labeling technology installed, means you can print pictures into lightscribe discs, too!

LG BE12LU30 external blu-ray burner is featuring both USB 2.0 and eSATA interface, but sadly you won’t find any USB 3.0 yet. LG BE12LU30 external blu-ray writer is weights in 1.5kg, will come with a dedicated software from Cyberlink (PowerProducer, PowerBackup, PowerDVD, and Power2Go).

Seagate must be kicking themselves hard because Western Digital has just announced their own 3TB external Hard drive, and there is no need to buy any NAS system to be able to enjoy the 3TB storage!

Western Digital 3TB External Hard drive is going to hit the store several months later after this announcement, which we really hope to see it in store in Christmas holidays. Western Digital will going to add this 3TB model to their My Book Essential edition, and pair it up with the current fastest USB 3.0 interface.

Pricing remains undisclosed, but I think the price will be the double of the 1.5TB version (at least).

Buffalo external hard drive is getting a bling-bling treatment, turning their MiniStation Lite Portable hard drive series into a hig-Gloss Gold hard drive. It looks like being touch by Midas finger, the Buffalo Gold edition is entirely coated in shiny gold surface, leaving the Buffalo Logo visible at the top right corner.

Buffalo MiniStation Lite Gold edition will be available in 500GB capacity, using USB as the main data connection and power source. To make the product line crowded, Buffalo has also added Black, Red, White, Blue and Pink color (with various kind of capacity from 250GB, 320GB, 500GB and 640GB) to the party.

USB 3.0 has been the new standard, and most external hard drive manufacturer has focused on producing USB 3.0 device. The latest External Hard Drive introduced by SaroTech is also an USB 3.0 device, and it comes with a shape of a hard cover book that will fit for your bookshelf.

This Sarotech Hardbox 3.0 External Hard Drive promises a transfer speed up to 5Gbps (thanks to the USB 3.0 interface), and it will be available on 2010. However, the exact launching date has not yet set and no idea how much it will cost you.

This latest I-O Data new add-up is probably the most (ultra) slim external blu-ray burner I’ve yet to see. Dubbed as I-O Data BRP-US6, this External Blu-ray Burner is measuring at 127mm x 154mm x 20mm only. Thanks to the ultra-slim factor, I-O Data has successfully decreased the weight to 330g only.

The I-O Data BRP-US6 External Blu-ray is using USB 2.0 interface, and the drive is capable of 6x burning for BD-R SL, 2x for BD-R DL/BD-RE and reading at 6X with BD-ROM, it can also burn DVD -R/+R discs at 8x and DVD -RW/+RW at 6x, plus 5x on DVD-RAM discs.

According to TechFresh, I-O Data BRP-US6 External Blu-ray burner will go on sale in Japan in this month carrying the price tag of $343.

LG launching new series of external hard drive that looks quite sweet and sleek. With the rounded corner and bright color combination, it looks pretty good for the young spirited users to store their data. The series is dubbed as LG XD5 Mini External Hard Drive, a 2.5-inch hard drive measuring in just 13mm thick and range of color selections and sizes are available. This include Cool White, Black, Red and Lovely Pink and the size of 320GB and 500GB.

For a second, this speaker doesn’t look like a speaker to my perspective. It looks more like an afro hair, the groovy one.

Just switch the underneath part with some faces of disco dance star and you shall get what I mean. It’s very funny and colorful because it have 4 colors selection from Black, blue, Yellow and Pink.
