Unlike any grand piano you would found in the music instrument store that is made of wood, heavy, and expensive, this concept of Foldable Digital Grand Piano by Korean designers (Yun Jin-yeong and Jeong Seong-hun) is actually quite portable and should be cheaper.

From the look above, it doesn’t show you how portable the piano is. However, the following picture will show you the condition when the grand piano is in folded position.

See? Both the piano and the chair can be folded into a thin piece of layer that would save a lot of space for delivery process or storing. Of course, we are unable to ensure that the sound produced by this digital grand piano is better than the original one that uses real strings. But at least it should become a nice and affordable solution for the budget-strict musicians who can’t afford the expensive wood-made grand piano.

However, it’s sad because this foldable digital grand piano is just a concept for a moment.

It’s often that our environment doesn’t have the park we want to walk at, or the river side that we want to ride our bike at. If those spots are far away from our home, riding bike all the way to the destination might not a great solution (it would be dawn once you’ve arrived).

That’s why people will bring their bike on their car, drive it to that desired park or river side before they fire up their foot muscle to do their exercise. However, not all bikes are small and not all car is capable of containing a full size bike. Leaving option to tie it up on the roof that might risking to scratch the car roof badly.

Luckily, a folding bike would solve the problem. Not only it’s a full size bike, you can store it just fine in your car once it’s folded. The latest folding bike that has the most functionality and features is this iF Mode Folding bike.

This award winning iF Mode Folding bicycle provides a solution to fold-unfold the bike in a mere 3 seconds or less. This is super time saving when comparing to other folding bike in the store. Even better, iF mode Folding bicycle is featuring a hidden chain with zero maintenance. Never afraid of the lubricating oil on the chain would stain your sock or cloth anymore!

Meticulously engineered by British inventor Mark Sanders in conjunction with Pacific Cycles, this stunning fold-up bike features a stylish monocoque frame with a single action swing-arm. This unique system allows you to flip open or collapse the whole shebang in less than 3 seconds, automatically linking the wheels together and allowing the bike to be wheeled around rather than carried when folded. It’s 100% idiot-proof. No really, we’ve tried it.

The IF Mode folds quickly and easily

Ideal for anyone who uses public transport or a car for part of their commute, the iF Mode makes oily socks a distant memory as its chain is enclosed within its streamlined modular frame. Use it to cycle to the station, the shops, the gym, the cinema, or anywhere else that’s too far to walk but too near for any other mode of transport.

Unlike those dorky tiny-wheeled contraptions you see vicars riding to the church fete, this triumph of engineering boasts a full-size frame and proper wheels so you sit in a natural riding position and get balanced handling. It even utilises an ingenious kick button allowing you to change gears with your heels.

Too far to cycle? No problem!

Actually, come to think of it, forget commuting, the iF Mode is so eye-catchingly cool it deserves to be used for recreational cycling too. Hang it in the hall folded and it could almost double up as a futuristic art installation. So what are you waiting for? On yer bike!

Firebox is selling this award winning iF Mode folding bicycle for £1699.99 as a pre-order. If you care to own a luxurious folding bike, this iF mode foldable bike is a nice choice.

Duo Travel stand is pretty much like the MoviePeg iPad stand that we introduced last year. It’s a two identical parts that could support the iPad to stand in both portrait and landscape position, however, the parts of Duo Travel stand are connected with a special hinge instead of two separated parts. Which mean you can fold it up when not in use.

Duo travel stand is made from metal and covered with silicone skin that could protect the iPad 2 from scratches when in use. The Duo Travel stand can even let iPad rest conveniently at certain ergonomic degree (16-degree) that make typing easier.

Thanks to its nifty design, the Duo Travel Stand will prop up an iPad in one of two ways: a 60° angle for watching your media and browsing the internet, or a shallower 16° angle for typing and text input.

Built from two strips of metal, joined by a silicone skin, the Duo Travel Stand is rigid enough to support your iPad without any flex or wobble. Thanks to its compact design it’ll also fold flat, to slide neatly into a bag or jacket pocket. Not only does the soft silicone provide the hinge, but it gives the Duo Travel Stand a great tactile feel and non-slip surface that won’t scratch your iPad.

Want to get one? This Duo Travel Stand for iPad 2 is available for £14.99 (or equal to $24) at Firebox.

When two is not enough, that’s when this cool concept from the future come drop by to our obversation. Through the YankoDesign network, the designer Kristian Ulrich Larsen has introduced to the amazing phone with flexible AMOLED touchscreen that you can fold it in three parts bridged by soft steel mesh hinges. It’s definitely a nice solution for the screen-junkie who feels dual screen is pretty dull for them.

It looks pretty nice on both flat version and folded version. The designer said that the phone will be installed with custom version of Google Android OS that allow the system to device the display into three part when folded. It’s an amazing thoughts and designs, hopefully we can see something similar to this concept phone being release in the near future.

Nokia, being one of the top cell phone manufacturer has had its own researchers to work on something seriously cool. Nokia is now looking into developing a stretchable electronic skin that could be flexibly adopted to their future cell phone. According to the latest information, the electronic skin is not only flexible and foldable. The skin could also be stretched about 20 percent of its original size without damaging the internal functionality!

The Stretchable electronic skin is using an evaporated gold as the main conductor to send information between each functionality to the cell phone. The video below show you the elastic touchpad, which is one of the prototype of the stretchable electronic skin:

This is very interesting. If Nokia successfully developed this elastic skin, the future Nokia phones are going to be a great handset!

It is a green gadget that designed for most of the household standard so the user can free themselves from relying electricity from government and let users be the part of the Earth saving project by creating electricity out of a natural resources such the winds.

Eolic Foldable Wind Powered Generator is made of an Ultra Light Material similar to carbon fiber and aluminum. Which mean it is very light to carry around, and it is sturdy enough. The design is pretty simple, it has the shape of a standing fan, and it folded as a capsule-like vessel. The power produced by this Eolic Foldable Wind Powered Generator is purely depending on how much wind on its zone. The stronger the wind, the larger electricity it could provided for your electronic. However, we have no clue what is the limit and how it can maintain the stable stream of electricity for powering a household electric equipments.

Eolic Foldable Wind Powered Generator is designed by Marcos Madia, Sergio Ohashi and Juan Manuel Pantano. Depend on their luck, they could probably make this concept a reality if they can find sponsors for it.

Through UberGizmo’s Network, we have come to know about the Energizer solar folding lantern at the CES 2010. From the title, it might somehow misleading us into thinking of a foldable solar lantern. In fact, Energizer Solar folding lantern is not about a foldable solar lantern. The shape of this lantern is just like the ordinary emergency lamp what we have at our home. But Energizer solar folding lantern has an additional solar panels installed at the back of the lamp, where you can flip it up to capture Sun’s power. As the backup option, Energizer Solar Folding lantern can be powered by normal D batteries where there is no Sun lights to capture for the entire day.

Every time you want to use the keyboard, you’ll have to pull it or stretch it vertically. Once you’ve pulled the folded keyboard, it will reveal the hidden touch-keys with no tactile response (I assumed) when you type your words.

But I will have no problem on the tactile response and I will really love to get one because of my mobile lifestyle. Just one problem though, no idea when this conceptual keyboard could be produced as a real stuff.

Sheetseat, like the title said is a foldable chair concept with eco-friendly touch. The main material is a 3/4″ thick plywood and perhaps some steel wired is also blended to be the frame so someone can actually sit on it without worrying to break the wood into pieces. Sheetseat is designed by Ufuk Keskin, and it was shown at the IDSA’s Equilateral during New York Design week event.

I’ve been thinking to have such a practical chair, which could be fold up and return just a piece of 3/4″ wood. I might also love the double-duty mosaic folding chair, or perhaps the foldable director chair. However, both of them have no such a simplicity as Sheetseat folding chair. It will eat less spaces even you have bunch of them stack together because it will look just like a pile of wood stacking neatly.

Just a concept though, no word and no idea when this Sheetseat will be released for sale…

Taga stroller, in the first view looks pretty much the same as Zigo Bike that we have covered sometime ago. it’s a bike-like carrier to carry children in the front side, but Taga Stroller has a few new levels of convenience for moms.

The few more great feature for moms is the foldable frame so you can actually stuffed it into your car trunk and unfolding it only takes several minutes. with Taga Stroller, you can even install one more seat for your kid which mean you can carry two of your cute children at a time. Very convenience as the position of your child is in front of your eyes so you can fulfill their needs.

Other additional stuff that could be added is a covered seats for rainy days, shopping baskets, and you can even adjust the length of the Frame in Taga Stroller. Unfortunately, if you are in US, this Taga is not available yet (for Europe only).

Designer Pekka Salokannel has created a brilliant speakers concept dubbed as Gramo Speakers. The uniqueness of Gramo speakers is located on its three layers solar panel, and the foldable interface to allows maximum portability.

There are total of two faces available for you to flip around. The first one is the Solar Panels layer surface and the other blank surface (suspected as the thin loudspeakers) equipped with a touch sensitive upward-downward volume control with finger. Gramo Speakers has an internal rechargeable battery, so It will store all energy produced by the solar panels.

It certainly looks interesting as you won’t need a large space to bring this Gramo Speakers to your outdoor party in Summer time. However, it’s just a concept. So you won’t have the opportunity to enjoy this technology in this Summer. Hope Pekka Salokannel will be able to Materialized this concept into a real stuff soon!

Solar man, is not some type of superheroes such as Superman or Iron-man. Solar Man is a bike concept which is fully designed to harnessing the natural energy (Sun, in this case) using Solar panels to power up the micro engine inside the bike so you can get an electric bike similar to Electric Schwinn Stingray Bike.

The rest of unused power will be stored into the internal lithium-ion battery which is designed exclusively for the cycling purposes. You would expect for a heavy weight of this Solar Man. The total weight is around 12 kgs despite of its small form. Oh, did I mention it’s also a foldable bike, too?

Designed by Chen Weiping (Chinese I guess), this is one of sleek bike concept I’ve even seen. Unlike the last foldable bike (which I assumed unhealthy!), this bike has its own ergonomic factor and I felt positive with the additional features to dress up this bike.

Never thought about a bike could be a backpack, designer Chang Ting Jen comes to knocked our head with his fragile concept of Bike-Pack.

I’m not sure what kind of material he is going to use for this foldable bicycle, but I’m 100% sure there is no hard metal that could last longer if it makes into a thin plat like the design shown.

Except you go to kripton planet and get the hardest solid metal rock, this concept seems going to be just a concept.

Another consideration is on the health sector. Won’t the bicycle get dirty after road rush from your home to your destination? And you simply fold it and carry it on your shoulder?!

Hmm… personally, I won’t bother use it. If there is no other vehicle alternative, I’ll choose to walk on foot to my destination.

Via Gizmag and Gizmodo.
