Using this iTar, you can strum on your guitar, tap on keys, shake maraca, drumming, and many more. This iTar will make your fingertips as busy as it can to generate tunes of your choice.

The creator, Harvey Starr is raising fun at Kickstarter. Currently, there are 30 backers, with about 10% of the goal has been reached. The deadline is on December 6th, so if you think this iTar is a great idea to spoil your finger tips, you can pledge on this project at Kictstarter now. Depending on how much you pledge, you’ll get different stuffs and service in return.

The library of Kinect Hacks is growing! After a series of cool hacks using OpenKinect, now we have got a new hack for Kinect that brought out a fully functional virtual guitar on the screen using the help of C++m OpenFrameworks and openCV.

In 2007 I attempted to make a simple Air Guitar prototype using a stereo camera (watch video). Unfortunately it didn’t work very well.

Now that the much anticipated Xbox Kinect camera was out and opening up by the way, I wanted to port this demo to explore what the potential of interactive music games could be in the future & also just to experiment with the Kinect. So here is the outcome so far…

It looks like a fun hack and it also proved that Kinect is an excellent piece of hardware. I believe more hacks are under its way, we will keep you posted on Kinect Hacks.

Beside treating it as a gaming controller for playing guitar-driven games, Starr Labs Rock Controller is also can be treated as a real guitar.

The controller features bunch of color-coded touch sensitive fingerboard with patented 14 fret. It also has 6 zero-latency string triggers that looks just like a real guitar, a whammy bar, 4-way joystick, and two select buttons.

According to our source, Starr Labs Rock Controller is also compatible with both PC and Mac via a USB port. However, we have no idea how much this model will cost you. Judging from their other versions (a Spring sale is available right now), the pricing should be on the thousands dollar mark.

You might have heard or seen the Air Guitar that uses digitalize string to play melodies. But Misa Digital Guitar is more than just an Air Guitar. Beside it has a string-less design, Misa Digital Guitar is simply the coolest digital guitar of the era.

Made by a clever guy in Sydney, Australia, this Misa Digital guitar has a wide touchscreen area where it can hold your hand with full fingers stretched. The creator is aiming for a simple and effective instrument where it could provide a minimalistic guitar interface while it still can let user feel like playing a string guitar.

Misa Digital Guitar will help newbie learn guitar with less pain on their fingers (or the pain is actually lifted) thanks to the string-less design. And the most surprising fact for this Misa Digital Guitar is the Linux-Powered (linux Gentoo 2.6.31) and a MIDI controller.

The only downside that you might found is the Misa digital guitar will rely badly on a dedicated MIDI compatible sound module. Without the sound module, no sound would be created.

So, Yamaha invented this hollowed body guitar so you can play without doubt and only heard by yourself through the use of earphones.

That’s the smartest and the best part of this hollow guitar by Yamaha. The guitar itself is powered by battery, or directly from the included power supply.

“You’ve already mastered Guitar Hero, now test your guitar skills with the Air Guitar Pro! This toy consists of the upper neck of a guitar with infared ray strings that make the sound as your fingers hit the fretboard.

The controller has seven buttons on the front to press to hold down chords and also buttons on the side to identify the chords as major, minor, augmented or diminished. Just strum thin air and you’ll be playing in no time! It also includes ten songs for air guitar beginners.

Get yours and be the first of your friends to actually make some music when you play the air guitar.”
