Interesting idea over at Kickstarter has suggested us to turn our iPad into an electronic guitar. The idea is called iTar, which is an interactive dock with a complete fretboard. There is no string in this guitar, luckily. In exchange for the strings, iTar uses button-based guitar fredboard patented by Starr Labs.

Using this iTar, you can strum on your guitar, tap on keys, shake maraca, drumming, and many more. This iTar will make your fingertips as busy as it can to generate tunes of your choice.

The creator, Harvey Starr is raising fun at Kickstarter. Currently, there are 30 backers, with about 10% of the goal has been reached. The deadline is on December 6th, so if you think this iTar is a great idea to spoil your finger tips, you can pledge on this project at Kictstarter now. Depending on how much you pledge, you’ll get different stuffs and service in return.

Do you remember that cool looking Linux powered Misa Kitara digital stringless guitar? It seems this baby is now available for pre-order at their official site.

Misa Kitara guitar is absolutely cool because it has no strings attached, and if you are a beginner your learning curved could be faster than anyone else because you don’t have to hurt your fingertips to properly pressed on the keys again and again. That alone is very cool!

I wish I can have this guitar when I was learning guitar, but it’s not to late to own one of this to fell the tension-less guitar playing.

The library of Kinect Hacks is growing! After a series of cool hacks using OpenKinect, now we have got a new hack for Kinect that brought out a fully functional virtual guitar on the screen using the help of C++m OpenFrameworks and openCV.

In 2007 I attempted to make a simple Air Guitar prototype using a stereo camera (watch video). Unfortunately it didn’t work very well.

Now that the much anticipated Xbox Kinect camera was out and opening up by the way, I wanted to port this demo to explore what the potential of interactive music games could be in the future & also just to experiment with the Kinect. So here is the outcome so far…

It looks like a fun hack and it also proved that Kinect is an excellent piece of hardware. I believe more hacks are under its way, we will keep you posted on Kinect Hacks.
