Your Smartphone is not smart enough? Can’t record HD video or taking high quality photo? If that is so, you will need to buy a dedicated camera or camcorder to do this task. It’s quite cheap these days, a camcorder that could record 720p HD camcoder is about $100+ right now. Also, if you are the type that love rugged camcorder, You might want to check out this new Kodak Playfull Waterproof camcorder.

This Kodak PlayFull is the new waterproof, dustproof and drop proof camcorder that is fairly cheap but has a nice range of features. It has 2-inch LCD display, HDMI output port, Pop-out USB 2.0, SD card slot that support up to 32GB, and weighing in 85 grams only.

As far as the drop-proof feature, what’s been tested is a drop onto plywood, so we have no idea if it can survive a drop to a concrete/cement surface. Kodak PlayFull Camcorder is going to roll out in this late October 2011 for $120 (black version – with 4GB storage included), or $100 for the white version.

It’s not really a spy gadget, but you can count it as one. Thanko’s HDMI Video Pen HD Camcorder is taking the shape of a highlighter pen that you can slip into your the pocket of your shirt without being notice as a video HD camcorder.

This Thanko HDMI Video Pen HD Camcorder can take picture with its 7-Megapixels camera sensor and record video in 720p format for 30 minutes long per-file, while the battery life is longer at 5 hours per charge.

For storage, this Video Pen can hold one microSDHC card. Sadly, you’ll have to keep pushing the record button every 30-minute recording cycle as the system can’t support file with duration longer than 30-minute. But I guess that shouldn’t be a problem.

Recorded video will be in QuickTime .MOV format, so you might want to buy a converter if you plan to play it on your HDTV that has not support to .MOV file. Connection to your HDTV has been made easy too since this HDMI Video Pen HD camcorder has a dedicated mini-HDMI connector.

Thanko HDMI Video Pen HD camcorder is currently available for $120 directly from GeekStuff4U.

Without any hesitation of the new media, JVC has introduced yet another two new version of 3D HD camcorders with one of the coming with a big dual lenses 3.32MP CMOS sensor.

Pictured above is the first 3D HD camcorder codenamed as GS-TD1. It has a high speed processor that could hande two simultaneous full HD image capturing, and it has a cool 3D button and other button layout at the rear side.

JVC GS-TD1 has 5x zoom, can store 64GB video into 64GB SD card in AVCHD 3D format, as well as AVCHD 2D format. Also, JVC-GS-TD1 has BIPHOIC technology for capturing sounds in 3D manner, and Automatic Parallax adjustment that could optimize the 3D video comfort zone.

Now this one is the second 3D HD camcorder known as Everio GZ-HM960. This one is a bit smarter (although it has a smaller body and single lens) with auto-conversion of 2D images/videos into 3D version instantly and output them to the 3D display that can be viewed with bare eyes.

Everio GZ-HM960 3D HD Camcorder has 3.5-inch 3D Display that should be pretty convenient to view the recorded result.

If you are currently looking for a new pocket camcorder with projector and could record movie in 720p HD format, then you might want to add this ViewSonic DVP5 Pocket HD Camcorder projector to your shopping list.

ViewSonic DVP5 HD camcorder is a new series that could handle HD video recording with its 5MP sensor camera, and taking still image with up to 8MP lens sensor. This ViewSonic DVP5 is really an advanced version of pocket camcorder because beside you can view the result in the 2.4-inch LCD display, you can also project it out with the pico projector on its top to view it on the 65-inch large display on the wall!

Of course, such a pico projector should have no bright lumens to share. IT has only 15 LUMENS, 200:1 contrast ratio which you should have project it on a dark room before you can see anything clearly. However, if you have yourself a big screen HDTV, you can directly hook Viewsonic DVP5 to the TV using a HDMI cable.

ViewSonic DVP5 Pocket HD Camcorder Projector has internal storage of 2GB, but you can expand the size with microSD/SDHC card up to 32GB (34GB in total). For audio playback purpose, ViewSonic DVP5 Pocket HD camcorder projector has come with a mono speaker.

Flip is no match on this new HD camcorder from HP. HP released V5020u that offering full HD recording up to the resolution of 1920 x 1080 and it has come with image stabilization via a built-in gyroscopic sensor to prevent image blur on shakes. HP V5020u HD camcorder also has been equipped with a 10x digital zoom, 5MP lens sensor, and it has 2-inch LCD screen to view the result of recording.

As the matter of fact, the shape looks similar with most HD camcorder that ever blogged here, such as the Panasonic HM-TA1 or JVC Picsio’s. They are all having a similar design that proved to give users a convenient recording experience. So design might not be the key here, we have to drill down to the list of spec to find what’s special on each HD Camcorder.
