There is no need to have much worry about battery life on a Kindle, but in case you want to bring it out for the camping somewhere, this type of accessory for Kindle might be quite helpful.

It’s the SolarKindle, an accessory that will gives your Amazon Kindle reader a new ability of recharging via sun light. It’s also claimed as the first solar-powered e-reader cover with flexible high performance solar panel to quickly recharge your dying Kindle.

Another benefit that you can enjoy is the built-in LED reading lamp and dual-charging (USB / solar) reserve battery. The LED lamp could shine continuously for 50 hours without using Kindle’s internal battery. It will pull power from the reserve battery that could be charged by exposing to the bright light.

This SolarKindle is set to released later in January 15, 2012 for $79.99. It’s quite expensive when considering the Kindle is only $109.

If you are attending CES 2012, you can also get more details in the exhibition.

Have you pre-order the new Kindle Fire? Well, even the exact delivery date is on November 15th, a month away, it’s been reported that the pre-orders are heating up significantly. According to what’s been reported by digital marketing firm eDataSource, Amazon has successfully generated up to 100,000 pre-orders on their first release. Of course, it’s way behind what’s Apple has achieved with their iPad release (about 300,000 units in the first day), but it’s still quite a milestone for an ebook reader. I thought it would sell a lot better because of the friendly price-tag, but the fact is saying a different result anyway.

Kindle Fire is an Android tablet/ebook reader hybrid, so perhaps people who’ve got themselves a new shiny Android tablet won’t take their chance to pre order this new shiny stuff. Amazon would get a better job if they release it earlier in 2010…

Recently we have heard a report from several source that Amazon has registered several interesting brand new domain names as if they are looking forward to make a good use of it in the future. First, we heard about Kindlewave.com has been registered, and later today, two other domains the KindleAir.com, KindleEarth.com and KindleWater.com. It sounds like Amazon is playing around the Elements, which only left the “Fire” Element if Jeff want to make it a complete set. Well, if you’ve watched Avatar The Last Airbender then you’ll know what I’m talking about.

Of course, a big company such as Amazon to play around with few domains is not something new anyway. But the coincident with elements are pretty funny to think about on what kind of product Amazon will push forward. They’ve been news about their new Kindle device as well as new Android tablets. If they are going to be named after the elements, I think the product would worth a look since they are from Amazon, the legendary online store, not from everywhere else.

Known as “Kindle With Special Offers“, this special version is in fact $25 cheaper than the existing model.

However, from the specification list, it seems there is no much different at all. Except, Amazon Kindle with special offers has no 3G access (WiFi-only) but has several new features like Kindle book lending, access to Audible audiobooks and a special offers screensaver.

In marketing talk, this new WiFi-only Kindle is actually just a new model that accept advertisement and promotion from Amazon. Each time when you are starting up the Kindle, you will get a home screen with offers and deals on new Kindle books or advertisement.

Kindle user then can click on the advertisement and buy anything offered on the special offer page on amazon. Question is, will people intentionally trying to buy themselves a device that will serve ads on their reading time just because they want to save $25? I hope I’m not missing something here.

If you are interested to see how well Kindle selling in the market since its first launch in 2007 with the first generation of Kindle, Kindle Homepage blog has posted the evolution figures proved that Kindle is slowly becoming popular with more revision and new edition released.

Kindle sales during the past three years and projections:

Launch of Kindle: November 19, 2007

100,000 Kindles sold: March 2008

750,000 Kindles sold: October 2008

1 million Kindles sold: March 2009 (with the launch of Kindle 2)

3 million Kindles Sold: December 2009

4 million Kindles Sold: July 2010

6 million Kindles sold: August 2010 (launch of Kindle 3)

8.5 million Kindles sold: 12 December 2010

11 million Kindles sold: 24 December 2010

12 million Kindles sold: January 2011

22 million Kindles sold: December 2011 (projected)

35 million Kindles Sold: December 2012 (projected)

Over the last 3 years, Amazon has sold over 12 million of Kindle and about 15 million Kindle ebooks sold with over 10 million paid books purchased. Jeff has made quite a big bucks there and the company has predicted that Amazon could sell over 35 million of Kindles by the end of 2012.

But I’m doubt if they can make it or not, especially when mirasol tablet/ebook reader will start to invade the market on this year. Will readers still choose the monochrome ebook reader over the color version if both device have the same battery performance and features?

According to the prove above, Kindle (left) is clearly the winner when zoomed at 26x. The e-ink text technology look pretty much the same as what you are looking at with your bare eyes on a readable distance. However, iPad display on 26x zoom is showing a bunch of tiny squares forming the text.

Quite a discovery, but the most amazing part is when the both of the display zoomed to 400x (kindle) and 375x (iPad). The image below show you what’s happening in the microscopic condition when a certain text displayed on the screen of both gadgets!

This is impressive. I believe Amazon has done their pre-launch marketing pretty well before rolling out their new Kindle model.

Which mean, if you order the new Amazon kindle right now, your oders will be delayed until 4th of September 2010. Well, it’s obvious. Beside cheaper, the new Amazon Kindle has a better specs, and smaller in size. For $139, you can buy the WiFi only model or $189 for the 3G + WiFi model. Now, have you order yours already?

After the news of ‘Kindle is out of stock‘ 2 days ago, we have found ourselves in front of the Amazon website with a brand new Graphite Kindle!

This is absolutely the new model of Kindle ebook reader. It’s impossible for Amazon to sold out their Kindle – the most popular electronic of the year. The reason is because the new model is going to hit the shelf, so Amazon declined to re-stock the ol’ model.

According to Amazon’s page, this graphite version of new Kindle ebook reader (also available in white) is 21% smaller they without shaving the 6-inch e-ink screen size. Thanks to the smaller form factor, the new Kindle ebook reader is also 17% lighter.

Even it’s smaller, the ‘stomach’ has grown twice as big to 4GB (can store 3,500 e-books), and about twice the contrast, faster refresh rate, has a crisper and darker fonts.

This new version of Amazon Kindle ebook reader will be available in two models. The 3G + WiFi and the Wi-Fi Only. Kindle 3G + Wi-Fi model cost higher at $189 while Kindle Wi-Fi Only will cost less at $139 only.
Thanks to the strive competition, we can now enjoy a lower price for both Amazon Kindle and Barnes & Noble’s Nook. On Monday, Nook’s pricing has been dropped to $199 from $259 ($60 dropped) that looks quite a great deal for bookworms. However, Amazon has also dropped their Kindle to $189 from $259 ($70 dropped) in response to Nook’s challenge. This one too is a great deal. However, in terms of technologies and features, Nook’s beat Kindle hands down.

They both share same technology as an e-ink ebook reader, however, nook has a built-in cellular wireless connection (AT&T is the carrier), a built-in Wi-Fi adapter, which gives you free access the AT&T-powered hotspots in Barnes & Noble retail stores, colorful touchscreen that could turn into a software keyboard and for those who dislike the AT&T version can now pre-order the Wi-Fi only version of Nook that sells even more cheaper at $149 only.

Will Amazon Kindle’s market get bitten by this newcomer? Highly possible… unless Amazon to roll out a new better Kindle 3 or Kindle ‘what’, sooner or later Nook will take the lead in their market.

Amazon announced that they are going to have a press conference on Feb 9 at Morgan Library and Museum in Manhattan about the pre-release of Amazon Kindle version 2.

Yep, that’s a rumor but still a good news for those who haven’t get a hold of Kindle as your personal e-reader. And it seems you can’t make any order of the current version of Kindle even you head to Amazon.com:

Your order is expected to be delivered next 4-6 weeks. I guess the one you’ll get will be the version two. But there still no further information about it.

Kindle is a great book reader that allows you to download new books through amazon whisper technology (EVDO) or access to whole lot of media such as newspaper, magazine and books (there are 250K of them now). You also can access to your favorite blogs with Kindle.

The new version is expected to be able to fix the existing bugs, such as the accidental page turns (reported by BGR).

The new version is having a body remake as well. It’s now come in a longer dimension, thinner, and getting a USB-interface treatment as well. Which mean the Kindle 2 will need no more separate charger to power up and recharge the battery for portable uses.

(via CrunchGear)

UPDATE: I found Alibaba.com is selling Amazon Kindle 2 right now. I’m not sure if it’s fake or not. But buying from the external source other than Amazon.com is pretty risky. I recommend you to not making any purchase before hearing the official news from Amazon.
