Seeing a car design on electronic is not a fresh perspective anymore. Started by Acer with their Ferrari design, followed up by ASUS with their Lamborgini design, and more from others. The latest car design for computer peripheral is made by LaCie, which also sporting amazing luxurious car design from Porsche.

They are the new storage solutions called Porsche Design Desktop P9230 and Porsche Design Mobile P9220 hard drives. Just like the fast moving car, both hard drives have been equipped with the best and fastest USB 3.0 connectivity which featuring superspeed transfer rate with up to 6Gbps data could be transferred on each second. However, there is no mention on the exact transfer rate of both Porsche Design Desktop P9230 and Mobile P9220 in MB/s yet.

What’s cool is the sleek aluminum casing and design that resembled the luxuriousness of the sport car, but as far as sport car design, this LaCie Porsche Design hard drives didn’t quite there yet.

Storage-wise, LaCie Porsche Design Desktop P9230 and Mobile P9220 is featuring different storage sizes. For the mobile version, LaCie made it available in both 500GB and 1TB, while the Desktop version is larger at 1TB and 2TB. Not all of them are available yet, but I saw Amazon has listed the LaCie Porsche Design Mobile 500GB for $104.76 and LaCie Porsche Design Desktop 1TB for $115.21. There is also a 750GB model that will be sold exclusively in Porsche Design store, but we have no idea if this model will be priced higher then other series or not.

The LaCie Starck Desktop Hard Drive represents a collaboration between LaCie and world-renowned designer Philippe Starck, who designed our groundbreaking line of “Toaster” hard drives. This product underscores the importance of developing and creating products that are as functional as they are beautiful. One of the most remarkable features of the LaCie Starck is its intelligent touch-sensitive surface, which responds to your touch. You can fully customize the front panel of the LaCie Starck so that it opens the application of your choosing, depending on whether you use a short tap or a long touch. It’s easy to use and efficient. With its sturdy aluminum casing, the LaCie Starck is one of the most resistant and coolest choices on the market—its exterior provides a sturdy, reliable way to keep it from shock and overheating, making the LaCie Starck completely dependable.

The Starck Desktop Hard Drive is available in 1TB for $129.99 or 2TB for $249.99. The price might not as a good deal as their previous ‘black buddies’, you will pay more on its styling instead of its capacity if you plan to get this Starck model. Head to LaCie site for the shopping cart.
