AAXA Technologies has introduced yet another pico projector called P4. This series is quite unique. Unlike any pico projectors in the market that look like a smartphone, this AAXA P4 Pico projector is similar to a conventional projector that have been dwarfed into a palm size model.

For its specification, AAXA P4 Pico Projector is coming with 750MHz Windows CE Mobile processor, 80 LUMENS LED Light engine, long life 15,000 hours LEDs, has VGA port, composite port, SD card slot and USB 2.0 port.

For the screen size, AAXA P4 Pico Projector is capable of projecting up to 80-inch of screen size in low light condition. You can’t hope much of its performance in a bright room as the 80 LUMENS brightness is really not the type for that environment.

Talking about the pico projector, it has a little bit higher than average brightness at 20 ANSI LUMENS, which should work fairly well on a dim room. The screen size produced by the pico projector is ranging from 10-inch to 65-inch, though I doubt the result would be good on the largest size. The battery could last for 100 minutes on projector mode, which I think is not too bad at all.

You can find more information at Amazon if you wish to know more. Also, you can get it for just $299. Consider it as a combo of camcorder and pico projector, the price is really worth it and you are actually saving a lot then buying them separately.

Yep, that is the new Pico Projector called Tursion TS-102. This pico projector is featuring Android OS, 3M’s LCoS MM200 projector, has 20 LUMENS brightness and coming with built-in WiFi connectivity.

It might sounds cool, but actually 20 LUMENS of brightness is kind of low. Even the specs list stated that it can give you above 100-inch of display, the result should be pretty blurry at that level. The best size is around 30 to 40-inch where you will get the best brightness out of the projector.

As for the storage, Tursion TS-102 pico projector has 8GB built-in. If you think it’s not enough you can expand it by using microSD card. No pricing and release date for this pico projector yet.

Check out this new pocket rounded projector with tripod stand. It’s the new mini projector from SAGA called Mini Cinema. This Mini Cinema is coming with a LCoS technology, supporting resolution of 800 x 600p with 50 ANSI LUMENS. Obviously, you can’t hope much from an 50 ANSI LUMENS projector, especially when projecting large display above 30-inch. I have notice that this type of projector is good for 30-inch or smaller because the brightness is still acceptable at that range.

SAGA Mini Cinema has used LED lamp so it has a longer lamp life than conventional projector. It has around 20,000 hours of LED Lamp life, which is about 2 years of life if you open it 24 hours non-stop.

Other features of SAGA Mini Cinema projector has includes 200:1 contrast ratio, has a built-in-player, SD card slot, 1Watt stereo speakers and it also support DV-in from various video gadget like DVD player or game console.

This SAGA Mini Cinema LED projector is available at two online retailers.

A new portable Pico 3D mini projector from Vivitek dubbed as Qumi HD has started to ship now. This Vivitek projector has been nominated as the world’s first portable pockatable LED HD (720p) 3D-ready pico projector and the projector itself can be connected directly to iPad, PC/Laptop or even your gaming console.

Vivitek Qumi HD LED 3D pocket projector is not just like the usual pocket pico projector with low lumens and contrast ratio. In fact, Vivitek Qumi HD LED projector is having 300 lumens of brightness, and about 2500:1 contrast ratio. That specs is enough to let you see things clearly on an acceptable range. The registered throw ratio is 1.55:1 (distance/width), where you can get about 30-inch screen size at the distance of 3.28 feet (1meter) and about 90-inch at the distance of 9.84 feet (3 meter).

90-inch projection size via a small PICO projector is HUGE! I have one that is capable of throwing about 64-inch and the image has been blurry and dark. Also, not to mention that Vivitek Qumi HD LED 3D pocket projector is having a long lifespan. It’s been stated that the projector has about 30,000 hours of lamp life before you need to replace with a new lamp. That’s about 10 times longer than any ordinary pico projectors available in the market today.

“We know that hours of operation, brightness and picture quality are key factors for consumers. The Qumi incorporates the latest LED and other leading-edge technologies and features, such as 3D, to ensure that it is versatile enough to match the range of portable products out in the market.”
- Christopher Yang, senior product manager at Vivitek

Connection wise, I have said that this projector can work well with our game console, haven’t I? Yep, it has a mini HDMI port for HD gadgets, VGA port for PC/laptop and a component connection for old dvd player.

Now, we have arrived at the sensitive topic again. How much you would have to pay for this amazing portable pocket pico projector that support 3D HD projection? From the first sight, I personally thought it would have cost us over $800+ or even thousands of dollars. However, you can actually purchase this projector for just $499 on 16 different online retailers. That’s included my favorite Amazon, Newegg and BestBuy.

If you are asking which retailer has the cheaper deal, then Amazon will be the right choice. No really far from everyone else though, it’s just $0.99 cheaper + Free shipping…

If you are currently looking for a new pocket camcorder with projector and could record movie in 720p HD format, then you might want to add this ViewSonic DVP5 Pocket HD Camcorder projector to your shopping list.

ViewSonic DVP5 HD camcorder is a new series that could handle HD video recording with its 5MP sensor camera, and taking still image with up to 8MP lens sensor. This ViewSonic DVP5 is really an advanced version of pocket camcorder because beside you can view the result in the 2.4-inch LCD display, you can also project it out with the pico projector on its top to view it on the 65-inch large display on the wall!

Of course, such a pico projector should have no bright lumens to share. IT has only 15 LUMENS, 200:1 contrast ratio which you should have project it on a dark room before you can see anything clearly. However, if you have yourself a big screen HDTV, you can directly hook Viewsonic DVP5 to the TV using a HDMI cable.

ViewSonic DVP5 Pocket HD Camcorder Projector has internal storage of 2GB, but you can expand the size with microSD/SDHC card up to 32GB (34GB in total). For audio playback purpose, ViewSonic DVP5 Pocket HD camcorder projector has come with a mono speaker.

Fans of Pico or micro size projector? AAXA has just unveiled their M1 Ultimate Micro projector that support the native 800 x 600 resolution with a better brightness level at 75 Lumens. I guess this might be a better choice for you where you don’t really have to watch your content on a complete dark room anymore.

Well, the common Pico projectors are coming with 15 or 30 lumens at most. With 75 lumens (double of the brightness) it should be pretty good to view in a dim lighting room.

Apart from the better brightness, AAXA has also packed the M1 Ultimate Micro projector with 1GB of internal memory, and an SD card slot to expand the size. Which means you can watch movie or read document without hooking up with your PC or media player.

AAXA M1 Ultimate Micro projector is not a portable stuff when it come to the power option. This pico projector has a no internal battery to self-powered, but you can get an external battery that will let you works continuously for 1.5 hour.

AAXA M1 Ultimate Micro projector has a nice interface in form of a touchpad control and digital keystone at the top side, which let you navigate through the menu easily. And the best of all, beside it’s palm-size, AAXA M1 Ultimate Micro projector is enclosed in an elegant aluminum housing. Beside giving it a better look, it also helps (at least) throwing out heat produced by the projector.

As for the connection, AAXA M1 ultimate micro projecto has both VGA and AV connectors. It means it’s DVD players friendly and you can hook your console to this M1 Ultimate Micro projector as well!

If you are interested, this AAXA M1 Ultimate Micro projector is now available for $299.

Meanwhile, on the 3M MP160 pico projector, while other features stay the same, this model is lack of wireless connectivity (bluetooth and WiFi) and internal storage. It can only be used directly by hooking up with PC or laptop.

For full details, please read the following Press Release:

3M Offers Increased Brightness with New Pocket Projector Models

Choose from versatility and great value in the MP160 or a full-featured, web enabled mobile office in the MP180

Bracknell, UK, 16 September 2010 – Diversified technology company 3M today announced two new market-leading models in its family of pocket projectors designed to help simplify and enhance the working life of the mobile professional. The MP180 offers 30 lumens of brightness and a full two hour battery life with 4GB internal memory. The MP160 offers a more streamlined, straightforward pass-through device for those that just want to connect and go.

“These new models mark the emergence of the latest, leading-edge pocket projector technology and are stirring up great excitement among those that have been tracking pocket projection since 3M launched the first device in this category in 2008,” said Nick Hughes, Marketing Manager for 3M’s Mobile Interactive Solutions Division (MISD). “The 30 lumens of brightness and a full two hour battery life are the key competitive points of the MP180 and MP160. They offer something for everyone with their feature rich specifications and, most importantly, they are good for business, putting the wow factor into presentations and opening the door for shared experiences with others.”

The MP180 represents the total, hand-held projector package for the on-the-go business professional, measuring 150 mm x 65 mm x 33 mm and weighing 338 grams. Laptops can be left at home with this portable office, which features 4GB of built-in memory, a micro SD card slot, and USB so people can literally grab PowerPoint and MS-Office files, including Word documents and Excel spreadsheets, plus videos and photos, and be ready to present at any impromptu moment. A touch screen control panel makes operation effortless, while integrated Wi-Fi connectivity and Bluetooth compatibility gives users the power of the internet in their pocket, enabling file transfer from a laptop or smartphone, as well as internet browsing and web content streaming.

For business professionals that do not require an abundance of attributes or on-board memory, the MP160 is an ideal plug and play connectivity device. It has a smaller, slim line form (150 mm x 65 mm x 30.5 mm) to fit-in-the-pocket for convenient transportation and storage. The MP160 enables projection of high quality videos, photos and games of up to 80 inches onto nearby walls, ceilings, screens or clear, flat surfaces.

The MP180 and MP160 share the same 30 lumens of brightness, full colour gamut, an unprecedented, full, two hour battery life and SVGA resolution. Both connect to any device with a video output, including laptops and Netbooks, smart phones, digital cameras, camcorders, DVD players, games consoles and MP3 players, making it easy to share presentations, videos, photos and other documents while on the go. Both have a rechargeable Lithium polymer battery and a long lasting LED light source (20,000-hour life).

The two new pocket projectors also feature two, thee-quarter-watt embedded speakers and an audio output jack for occasions where richer sound is required. Furthermore, the pocket projectors have an integrated flip stand, tripod and a variety of input cables. Optional accessories include an adaptor cable for Apple products, a car charger and for the MP180, an optional remote control unit.

The 3M MP180 and MP160 will be available in the UK from late October. Pricing will be available closer to the launch date. Please visit www.3M.co.uk/pocketprojector for more information.

Now, even a camcorder has this feature too! Over at Ordro, they’ve just introduced their HD camcorder that has a special dock to install a removable Pico Projector. This HD camcorder was codenamed as HDV-D350S, the Pico projector that came along the package is getting a standard 15 lumens brightness, and can produce up to 60-inch of big projection.

However, the Pico projector is supporting 854 x 480 WVGA resolution, and you can’t expect much from the 15 lumens of brightness.

On the HD Camcorder side, the specs is not too shabby as HDV-D350S has been equipped with 10 MP CMOS image sensor, up to 10x optical zoom and there is a crystal clear 3-inch touchscreen display. The camera itself can record video in 1080p format (1440×1080) at 60fps, or you can go lower to 1280x720p format at 30fps. All videos will be recorded into MPEG4 H.264 format and it would be stored in the built-in 128MB or external SD/SDHC card (support up to 32GB).

The MSRP or Ordro HDV-D350S HD Camcorder with removable Pico Projector is $549.99. Available now for purchase at Dino Direct via Amazon for $750 or you can buy directly from Ordro website for $550 with free US Shipping.

Here is a crazy mashup gadget that combined one pico projector, one Canon 1000D DSLR, one Joby Tripod and a 3D scanning software into one piece of 3D scanner called PicoScan.

The mashup is done by 4D Dynamics, where they are thinking that 3D scanner can be created with existing gadget without the need of a dedicated 3D scanning machine.

The PicoScan can be adjusted flexibly according to the angle you want and the snapshots of objects can be turned into a 3D models easily using the 3D Scanning software that based on Mephisto scan engine.

Currently, 4D Dynamics sells this PicoScan 3D Scanner at Amazon for $1,999. It might cost more if you want to buy them separately so just think it as a bundle deal or something similar.
