Canon is preparing to release their new Selphy series of photo printer around the May 2012. This new photo printer is dubbed as Selphy CP810, a new compact size printer that has a built-in tilting 2.7-inch colour LCD display, improved Auto Image Optimizer function, and the capability to print on postcard, letter, and credit card size paper in an amazing speed.

Canon Selphy CP810 also offering an amazing depth and gradation of colour, up to 100 years of print, and the capability to print from memory cards, PictBridge compatible camera and USB flash drive.

What’s great is that you can use it for portable printing as it has come with it’s own battery pack. All you have to do is hook it up with the memory card, load the paper and you can print it anywhere you like. Though the source is not mentioning anything about the battery life, I assume you would be able to print a handful of photos before you need to rejuice the printer.

Canon will release this Selphy CP810 compact photo printer for £99 in the UK, which is equal to around $156 in the States.

Would you pay $25 for a light source that you can reuse, waterproof and ultra portable? I would. Because such thing would be very useful when something bad happens (earthquake, tsunami, flood, etc.) that will make the electricity goes off for days or weeks.

Well, I’m talking about this new solar light called LuminAID. This solar light is said to be able to provide a maximum of 6 hours low light per 4-6 hours recharging via the solar panel (depending on how bright the sun is). It’s just like trading 1 hour of recharge for 1 hour of light source. It might sounds lame, but you will
appreciate it when disaster really happened.

LuminAID is easy to store because it is not coming as big as the picture above. It’s actually some kind of inflatable transparent plastic bag with the solar panel and device installed in the inner side of the bag. You can deflate it to save space, and inflate it later when you are trying to light up some area.

Since it’s made with a seal container, after inflating the bag, you can even let it float on the water because it’s waterproof. Of course, you have to be careful with sharp stuff as this LuminAID would become less useful when you can inflate the bag anymore.

Here, take a look at how LuminAID portable solar light will help you:

Head on over to IndieGoGo for more details.

However, if those console looks expensive for you, you can consider to get this piece of fun gadget from Japan called Portable Whack-a-Mole game keycharm.

You do know whack-a-mole game, don’t you? Often we can find one in the arcade zone where we have to use a big rubber hammer to smash those naughty moles that appear in their hole. It’s challenging and fun, but you can’t bring it anywhere with you so you can kill time with it on a long queue.

Despite of the worsening condition in Japan after tsunami and earthquake, they are still rolling out amazing gadget to impress the world. OS, a company in Japan has just introduced their newest portable solar power system that you can carry around when travelling, and the best of all, it can be retracted and rolled into a small cartridge-like storage.

If you want to be techie, this Retractable portable solar power system is called GSR-110B, has 3kb in weight, capable of generating up to 40Watts of power, where 16Watts taken from the solar panel (solar sheet that could be rolled and retracted) and the rest 24Watts is from the built-in battery.

More impressive feature that GSR-110B has is the ability to link with other GSR-110B unit and combine their power and provides up to 80Watts in total. It would be cool if we can link up as many unit as possible to obtain the wattage that we need. Sadly, it seems OS Japan’s Portable solar power system is only capable of dual linking instead of continuous expansion.

Above anything, Such technology will be extremely useful when in emergency condition like today. With the power plant exploded and radiation emitted, I hope Japan will learn from this tragedy and begin their journey to build a greener country from the rising sun powered by solar panel installed on all home in Japan.

Sony NGP, the so called Next-Gen Portable gaming handheld which is as strong as the PS3 specs and about as fast as a super phone is rumored to cost between $299 to $349 per-unit. Though I sincerely hope it could cost $299, but if it’s taking the specification in talk, that price mark is just insane. Unless Sony want to repeat the same marketing plan to loss dollars per unit sold like PS3 (for years!), the price mark should be corrected. Device powered by quad core Cortex A9 CPU, quad core PowerVR SGX543MP4+ GPU and any other amazing features like the dual touchscreen interfaces are enough to float the pricing to $500 or above.

However, if Sony’s intention is to beat Nintendo 3DS, I guess they’ve no other choices but to get it cheaper than ever. The only thing to worry is about the ‘Quality’ of the device. I’ve never doubt about Sony’s product as I’ve owned handy of them, so let’s hope it not just like the quality of cloned device that you can find it on the mainland.

[CES 2011] Samsung has just released three new types of USB 3.0 external hard drives in CES 2011 with two of those series are made for portable market and the other one is for desktop usage.

All of those USB 3.0 external hard drives are featuring superspeed 5Gbps transfer rate, which let you transfer faster than USB 2.0 interface. For example, you can use these Samsung USB 3.0 hard drives to transfer 25GB HD Movie in just 4 minutes, instead of 13 minutes with USB 2.0 480Mbps interface.

The above image is the 1 of 3 new lines of Samsung external hard drives. It’s a portable type that is pretty similar with standard portable drive, but it’s USB 3.0 interface and it has been pre-loaded with backup and security software for secure encryption. This series will be available in three different color tastes such as Onyx Black, Sapphire Blue and Coral Pink. It also has a nice pattern to show their own uniqueness.

Pictured above is the 2 of 3 Samsung portable hard drives. This series is a bit different from the first one, especially the wavy matte finish on the exterior design. It looks quite unique and you can easily distinguish this series with the other series in Samsung product line. Also, this portable drives will be available in size up to 1TB that other series are missing, and are also available in four colors choices like Brown black, Noble beige, Clay orange, and Mist gray.

The last one of the new hard drive line is a desktop hard drive. IT looks pretty classic with a fabric-patterned enclosure, and it’s way bigger than those two just now because it’s using 3.5-inch HDD instead of 2.5-inch laptop HDD. However, you can only find capacity bigger than 1TB in this option because this Samsung desktop hard drive will be available starting from 1TB, 1.5TB and 2TB. There are only two color choices for this version, which has been shown at the picture above: Brown Black and Noble Beige.

These newcomers will be hitting the US market starting April 2011. Pricing will be revealed when the time has come.

HP, the well-known brand in printer and PC market has just stomped their feet into the portable hard drive market by releasing their own USB 3.0 portable hard drives. There are three models available, 500GB, 750GB and 1TB and they are all standing on the USB 3.0 SuperSpeed ground that could transfer as fast as 5Gbps.

The HP portable hard drives are said to be backward compatible with USB 2.0, too. In case your PC haven’t get the USB 3.0 treatment, you can always go back to USB 2.0 interface with these portable hard drives.

USB 3.0 is getting hot with more companies jumping into the creation of new USB 3.0 enabled hard drives and accessories. Verbatim is also getting on the bandwagon, so they’ve just enabled their Store ‘n’ Go Portable HDD series to get the USB 3.0 support.

The updated Verbatim Store ‘n’ Go Portable hard drive with the superspeed USB 3.0 interface is going to be available in three sizes, 500GB, 750GB and 1TB. The interface is also backward compatible with USB 2.0, so if you think your PC/laptop is not that modern yet, you can still enjoy storing your data into the hard drive with USB 2.0′s 480Mb/s transfer rate.

To spice things up, Verbatim also bundled the Verbatim Store ‘n’ Go portable hard drive with Nero BackItUp and Burn Software for Windows, one Free trial of Norton Online Backup (5GB space) and the hard drive is backed with amazing 7-year limited warranty.
