The one announced by Spring Design has two screen, one at the top and one at the bottom. The top one is also an E-ink display while the bottom screen is a colorful 3.5-inch LCD display which allow you to view the embedded images with ease.

Other than the dual screen feature, this Google Android powered e-book reader is also coming with several other notable features such as a speakers system, WiFi or 3G connectivity, and an SD card expansion slot to expand the capacity.

You can use this dual screen ebook reader for browsing the web, viewing images, hear sounds (songs?) making notes and watch video. Pretty like a slim PMP for reading texts. No word on the battery life though, but the enhanced Android OS is optimized to preserve the battery life although it has two screen to run.

No price tag yet, but it will be release on the end of this year.

Wow, this is absolutely a great deal for those who love to snug their nose into the Wikipedia database because they now can bring the WHOLE Wikipedia contents (excluding images and multimedia files – Text only) on their pocket, so they can browser for an explanation on the go. If you think $99 worth the text on the whole Wikipedia site, I guess you should hurry head on to Amazon for getting one. The Device – WikiReader doesn’t connect right to the nearest hot-spot to update the database, but you have two options to keep the WikiReader up-to-date.

First, the device will be updated via SD card sent through the post every 3 months once containing the most up-to-date data from WikiPedia. Or second, if you think you are keen enough, you can go directly to the proper site to manually download the data and install it to the SD card by yourself.

The most beautiful feature WikiReader has is the power saving and ‘very’ low powered CPU teamed with monochrome touch-screen. Two AAA size batteries can give you lifespan of about a year long, and I think it’s really not too shabby.

If you remember, we have covered this nice looking Cool-er eBook reader a month ago with the availability in May with price tag of $250. Yes, it seems you can now purchase this colorful cool-er ebook reader with the same pricing and you can choose from 8 color series starting from Ruby Red, Cool Pink, Hot Pink, Blue Sky, Black Jack, Silver Shine, Racing Green and Vivid Violet.

The COOL-ER uses E InkR, a new technology that gives you a screen with a “like paper” display, replicating the experience of reading a book. Using power only for “page turns” means that a single charge lasts for 8000 pages and unlike a book, the electronic display allows you to change the text size to suit you!

This will become a good rival with Amazon Kindle 2 which is priced at $359. Those who haven’t save enough budget to own a Kindle 2 can now switch their attention to this Cool-er e-book reader that practically 100 bucks cheaper.

Again, a new Digital Reader has born to the stream of digital devices. Reading books nowadays has turned easy thanks to the invention of these type of digital electronic book. The first one I knew about is the Amazon Kindle and later the Cybook from Bookeen. Of course with their Big Boy brand, It could really easily knockout its competition.

But it doesn’t mean Kindle will be the king, since Kindles is lack of one feature – the touch screen functionality!

iRex Digital Reader

Yes, iRex spotted that weakness and now this Dinosaur-like iRex trying to destroy the competition with their newest Digital reader by offering much more delicious features for their user.

The touch screen is an absolute must-have feature, and it also accompanied by other marvelous wireless technology such as Wi-Fi, Blue-tooth and 3G for wider and stronger internet access for online reading.

Of course, they are not in the same package and you can choose what type of technology that you want to come with your new iRex. from the basic (no touch screen, Wi-Fi, or 3G) is only retailing for $649, touch screen only – $749, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G – $849.

Unfortunately, iRex is still not a perfect hardware although it have so many great features. there are some bugs on this new digital reader (read the story at Teleread). Though I personally believe iRex will become a great stuff for e-booker, it’s way too expensive (Kindle’s in only $359!) for just because of the touch screen or the wireless technology.

(found iRex at TechFresh)
