Here is another cool variation of a reading light if you are an avid reader. Often, the most comfortable reading zone is on the bed, at night, alone or accompanied by spouse. Obviously, if you are alone, you can open the light as bright as you like without worrying of disturbing anyone’s sleep. However, if you are not alone, it’s important to respect for others sleep time. You can still read your book without opening light, the solution is to get a portable reading lamp. LightWedge 2.0 is the reading tool that I’m taking about. I’ve seen a lot of reading gadget in the past, but LightWedge 2.0 is definitely one of the coolest reading lamp that could double as a bookmark.

LightWedge 2.0 is rechargeable, coming with a transparent glass which will dispersed the light from the big black strip at the left side. Each full recharge will gives you about 15-hours of bright light for reading, which is more than enough for your night 1 or 2 hours reading session in your bed without disturbing anyone.

If you are interested, you can get this LightWedge 2.0 rechargeable light for $49.99.

Elecom has released a nice little USB LED light called “Elecom ELESHINING” with up to 400Lux brightness level, which is identical to the light of sunrise or sunset on a bright day. If you are a night worker that love minimum lighting on your desk when working, Elecom ELESHINING USB LED light lamp is a great “reading lamp” to let you see your keyboard laptop clearly to assist typing in the dark.

Elecom ELESHINING 400Lux USB LED light is just 57 grams in weight, with up to 40,000 hours of life span. Amazing really, to think a lamp could last for 4-5 years if you use it 24-hours non-stop.

Even better, this kind of lighting is very cheap. It’s just 1,890 Yen, or $23 USD a pop. If you are interested, you should wait, or ask GeekStuff4U to see if they’ll import it for you or not.

You do know Luxo, don’t you? It’s the very popular Pixar’s mascot that you can find it on the opening of every animated movie by Pixar. Now, the relationship between Luxo with this Tiny Tim booklight is probably none, but the shape is really similar that I can’t resist to pull a string between both.

As I mention tiny, this Tiny Tim Booklight is really tiny. At just 5-inch tall, can be folded or clipped to book and fit into the pocket easily like a mini LED flashlight. You can absolutely bring it anywhere. It’s good for outdoors reading, or even on the comfy bed where you don’t really want to turn on the light to disturb your partner.

Tiny Tim Booklight is using LED lamp that shine brightly with rechargeable/replaceable battery. I’m not sure though, where to put or replace the battery, there is no details on this matter yet. According GG, there is a switch somewhere. I believe it is that little nub at the back of the head.

Anyway, this Tiny Tim Booklight is not yet available to purchase. There is an expectation that this booklight will be available soon for $13 each.

In the meantime, you can check out other interesting tiny booklight like M-Edge e-Luminator Touch Booklight, Bookmark Lamp and the Really Tiny Book Light.

Quirky has a new product listed on their community website. Known as the Mantis, not that green buddy with razor sharp arms but it’s a clever design LED lamp that would shade some lights on your desktop without interfering the surrounding.

Quirky Mantis LED Lamp is designed by Clinton Fleenor. His idea is to provide illumination to our keyboards or reading desk with minimal leak to the surrounding. Means that people near you won’t be affected by the light while you can still clearly see everything under the Mantis LED Lamp.

Mantis is shape like a flying saucer on frontal view, but it’s actually a bar of 11-LED light with top clipping system where you can easily clip on laptop screen, monitor screen, iMac screen or anything else. You can also let it stand like a desk lamp for reading documents or book.

Quirky Mantis LED Lamp is currently available for $26.99, made 1500 units in total but 114 units have been sold. If you are interested and willing to fork out $26.99 to get one, you can show your support at Quirky Website.

For bookworms who tries to save their electricity bills might love this concept design. It’s Book Light, a reading light in form of a bookmark strip where it will glows to provide light source for reading book. It’s just like the lightleaf we have here in last year. This Book light is very thin yet it can glow with enough illumination where reading with its aid is made possible.

Mikhail Stawsky, the designer of Book Light has also thought about getting the book light rechargeable and having a touch control to enhance the brightness. Unfortunately, we have no idea when Mikhail’s dream will come true.

Introduced by Hong Kue Lee, this “As Much As You Need” Lighting concept is a revolutionary idea. The concept a study lamp concept, where you can control how much light you’ll need by gesture interaction on the sensor on the body of the lamp.

As Much As You Need Light concept will let you customize which area of the light (in a horizontal line) that you need to get lit up, and which area to dim off by a slide/sweep of your fingers (thumb and index fingers) on the top sensor. This mean this lighting concept is also offering an energy saving solution for a eco-friendly lifestyle.

According to the concept, you can even control its brightness, and the length of the study lamp. The coolest lamp concept I’ve ever seen so far for saving energy and adjust the light “As Much As You Need”.

LightLeaf concept is one of the coolest book divider concept that I have ever seen so far. I have seen quite a few of book divider and reading lamp, and most of them has a separated light source or the illumination is not properly distributed to the entire surface. LightLeat is different. Designed by Valentina Timani, and it’s named as LightLeaf – the Lamp Bookmarker.

This LightLeaf lamp bookmarker concept is really cool. Beside it help you read book in the dark, it will act as your illuminated bookmarker. It’s pretty similar to the Bookmark Lamp or the super slim LED page light. But LightLeaf capable of distributing the lights evenly on each mm of the surface which make it a good reading light source in the dark.

Although I don’t recommend you to read on a dime light (bad for your eyes), it might be a great for some emergency situations.

It’s glowing, so by logical thinking, it should have some type of power source. According to Valentina Trimani the designer, LightLeaf will be powered by a small size rechargeable battery, and it can be recharged wirelessly. I know WiFi charger is now existed, but can this thin layer of book divider installed with that new technology?

Unless it has some type of port to hook up with the Airnergy Charger, It’s pretty impossible to stuffed that new technology into a thin layer.

iLamp is a super cool reading lamp design by System Design Studio! It’s a modern style Reading Lamp created with White Silicon and electro-luminescent polymer screen which allow a super flexibility on both the body and the light source screen.

iLamp will take any form or shape and you can bent it however you want. The shape will stay in place until someone try to change the shape again. Very interesting and I agree with Edwin at Coolest Gadgets that iLamp looks like a chewing gum!

I have covered some cool book reading lamps here, such as the Super Slim LED Page Light, or the Really Tiny Book Light, but both of them are not as cool as this Bookmark Lamp.

The key feature is the discreet LED light along the top line of the bookmark lamp and the flexible bend so you can set a better illumination for your book. It’s not limited for reading book, actually. In case don’t have a laptop that equipped with backlit keyboard, you can use this bookmark lamp to help you see the keys properly.

If you are a college student who share room with a room mate, this Super Slim LED Page Light would be pretty useful for you. As an alternative for your desk lamp, this gadget is very portable, which let made study in the dark easier.

Sometimes our room mate will be very sensitive and ask for a light off so he/she can sleep well. At that moment, just pick this Super Slim LED Page Light on your palm, and put it behind the page that you wanna read.

You will see a clear words, with less light which won’t hurt your eyes for long time reading.

Amazingly easy to use. Super Slim LED Page Light only need 4 pieces of AAA batteries to power-up the 4 bright white LEDs on this gadget. It’s pretty lightweight (210g only) and Thin to slip it between your pages.
Basically, 4 pieces of batteries enable you to read continuously for 40 hours. I suggest you to buy a rechargable one to save more money.
