This device is will transform supported smartphone or tablet (such as iPad) into a cool remote control with gazillion of feature for your entertainment system. Logitech Harmony is looking like a black flat rounded glossy stone from the top. It has nothing (such as button) to interact with except the ports on the sideways.

This Logitech Harmony Link is capable of replacing up to 8 remote controls in one device, turning your iPad or other smartphone/tablet into an ultimate remote controls. Currently this device is supporting over 5,000+ brands with more added every day. You can even visit www.myharmony.com by connecting the Harmony Link to your home WIFI network and tell Logitech what equipment you are using if it’s not listed. They’ll take care of the technical settings so you can use the harmony link on your device.

The most convenient feature is the app for your iPad or smartphone. I love the idea that my iPad could be the remote control to most of my device. Also, the in-app TV listings is easy to navigate around.

The Samsung QWERTY remote that was introduced few weeks ago is now reported to be shipping to US in April 2011. It’s late for US consumer to enjoy the new remote, but Korean Samsung TV owners (especially the premium series like series 8 or series 9) has got this remote and got their hands dirty with it few weeks ago. Of course, existing user would have to purchase it separately as the QWERTY remote is only available in the new model or newly purchase HDTV unit after the announcement back in March 18.

Samsung QWERTY TV remote will going to cost $99.99 a pop when it has landed in the States. Now question is, will you invest another 100 bucks to buy a QWERTY remote control for your TV system?

iPhone is really the best phone after all. It’s not that the phone that is strong or what, but it’s the ‘Apps’ that turn things around. Without much announcement from their part, Bang & Olufsen has rolled out a new remote control for theri Beo5 and Beo6 version. Especially on the Beo6 version, this remote control has been equipped with WiFi functionality that let you hook up with with Wi-Fi network to enable 2-way control with other supported Bang & Olufsen device.

The menu is reported to be fully compatible with Beo5 with the exact UI and menus, however, there is no details instruction given by the company just yet.

Another cool peripheral for iPad has been slide-out by Crestron called the Crestron iPanel. This new addons for iPad is not just a dummy stuff that you can purchase for $5 or $50. It’s an expensive piece of peripheral that will blows some additional functionality the the mighty Apple iPad.

Like what you’ve seen above, this Crestron iPanel can basically turn your iPad into an ultimate remote to control your household electronics. The Crestron iPanel is like a case with additional buttons at both sides, where it will host the iPad in the landscape position.

Without the iPad, the Crestron iPanel can still be used, however, after adding iPad onto the provided slot, the whole iPad is now your personal hi-tech remote control that can hook up with most of gadgets at your home. There are 13 dedicated buttons provided in order to help users navigate easily and I think it’s certainly good. However, for a steep price at $500, I’m doubt anyone would get one unless they’ve got a lot of money to burn.

At CeBIT 2010, Logitech is going ahead rolling out two new Harmony Universal Remote Controls, which previously has made a huge impact in the home entertainment segment. The two models include Harmony 600 and Harmony 650, which will retail for $79.99 and $99.99 is an advanced universal remote control that has been equipped with colorful display.

The display allowed user to see a list of commands required for device you want to control. Both of these Logitech Harmony Universal remote controls are going to support IR-capable device such as game console and home theater equipment.

Here is a fun gadget from Bandai. It’s called Heli-Robot, a Robot with two helicopter-like wings, remote controlled and it will be available soon in Japan.
