I’ve been looking for ways to hook up with my external hard drive wirelessly without going through a local wireless network that I can’t bring it around. Well, at last such kind of solution has been made available by Seagate! They’ve rolled out their Seagete GoFlex Satellite external hard drive that we can hook it up with WiFi b/g/n connection available in your device. Now I can bring the storage wherever I want and connect it up with my laptop, tablet or smartphones wirelessly!

Apart from the wireless connectivity, Seagate also added USB 3.0 superspeed interface into this hard drive. Seagate GoFlex Satellite is self-powered using internal rechargeable battery that would last for 5 hours on continuous operation, or about 25 hours of standby time. As far as the storage capacity, Seagate GoFlex Satellite is coming in 500GB only. The only reason to not coming in 1TB size is perhaps they are trying to make it as slim as possible while they can still stuffed in the battery.

Seagate GoFlex Satellite is also backed by a three-year warranty, coming with a bundle of software that allow you to securely browsing your files from the hard drive. If you are interested, you can now pre-order it for $199.99 on Amazon. I’d definitely get one when it has arrived at our region!

Seagate Constellation.2 is the first enterprise-class SATA 2.5-inch hard drive that has a great capacity at 1TB. How is this possible is thanks to the technology to stuff two more platters to the default 2 platters per 2.5-inch HDD. Which mean in this Seagate Constellation.2, there are four 250GB platters stuffed together and make the 2.5-inch a little bit fatter at 15mm in thickness.

Seagate Constellation.2 is using the fastest SATA II 6Gbps interface or 6Gbps SAS interface to boost its performance, while still maintaining the best-in-class low power consumption record.

Aside from the 1TB version, you can also get Seagate Constellation.2 2.5-inch HDD in the size of 250GB and 500GB.

It appears we have started to step our foot into the 3TB age. The 1TB version of hard drive is getting common lately, with the 2TB model get the best pushes from merchants around the world because the price has dropped into an affordable level.

Perhaps Seagate wants to lead the market once again, they’ve rolled out a 3TB version of an external hard drive and inserted into their existing product line ‘FreeAgent GoFlex Desk‘ that gives users the flexibility they never had on another branded external hard drive.

Seagate claimed that their new external hard drive is the first 3TB 3.5-inch HDD in the world. The case design is very cool with sleek black coating, bundled up with Meme software for backup automation with encryption capability.

However, Seagate FreeAgen GoFlex Desk 3TB is still standing on USB 2.0 standard. So, you won’t get any extra speed in transferring your data. This 3TB FreeAgent GoFlex Desk will cost your $250 (about 80% higher than the 2TB model) with two year warranty.

“Consumer capacity demands are quickly out-pacing the needs of business as people continue to collect high-definition videos, photos and music,” said Dave Mosley, Seagate executive vice president of Sales, Marketing and Product Line Management. “Seagate has a tradition of designing products that break into new storage frontiers to meet customer requirements and the 3TB GoFlex Desk external drive is no exception–delivering the highest-capacity storage solution available today.”

However, this Seagate Momentus XT 500GB ST95005620AS is practically a different species born from the same Seagate’s womb.

Seagate Momentus XT 500GB ST95005620AS is known as the SSD killer (though I would love to call it a HDD-killer instead) because it can performance fast, efficient, and cost effective. But it’s certainly not a killer for SSD yet. From the tested record done by OverclockerClub, Seagate Momentus XT500GB ST95005620AS can perform 80 percent faster than the conventional 7,200RPM 2.5-inch HDD or about 100 percent faster than the usual 5,400RPM HDD.

It’s all thanks to hybrid technology built inside the HDD, where has a 4GB of SSD and 32MB of DDR3 fused together to break the limit.

According to the tester, Seagate Momentus XT 500GB ST95005620AS has literally increased 13 seconds faster on booting and start up loading time in comparison to the traditional 5,400RPM HDD.

<del datetime="2010-11-12T23:38:17+00:00">The most wonderful fact is the price. Seagate Momentus XT 500GB ST95005620AS HDD only cost lest than USD100 (compare it) although it has increases in both speed and performance. Nice deal btw. Some merchant even has it as low as $75. What a crazy price.</del>

UPDATE: Price update. The Seagate Momentus XT 500GB ST95005620AS HDD is priced at $130 (check lowest).

Seagate has just created a brand new solution offering you to turn your unoccupied ExpressCard slot into a usable high-speed new standard USB 3.0 port instantly. The Adapter has no brandable name yet, all we have known is Seagate has a new ExpressCard Slot to USB 3.0 converter adapter where it can be used together with Seagate’s latest GoFlex Flexible Storage System introduced earlier.

The Seagate adapter will get power from your existing USB 2.0 port to supply the addition power needed to detect any fast moving USB 3.0 gadgets such as flash drives. Similar to any USB 3.0 transfer speed standard, Seagate ExpressCard Slot to USB 3.0 port converter can provide a “10 times” faster transfer speed than the conventional USB 2.0 port.

Seagate is not only showing off their USB 3.0 BlackArmor PS110 Portable Hard Drive in this year’s CES 2010, they also bundled it up with a power cable and PC USB 3.0 express card in one. This bundle is called by the name of “Performance Kit” where user can boost their Laptop with a triple HDD speed of the USB 2.0 predecessor. The BlackArmor itself has the capacity of 500GB, 7200RPM and it’s laptop size HDD at 2.5-inch.

According to the tester, This Seagate BlackArmor PS110 USB 3.0 Portable HDD Performance Kit is capable of transferring 25GB HD movie in just 4 minutes (USB 2.0 needs 14 Minutes). All you need to do is to install the PC adapter card into your laptop Express Card slot, then hook up the HDD with the adapter cord to the adapter card.

Additionally, Seagate BlackArmor PS110 USB 3.0 External HDD also comes with several software such as Acronis business-grade backup, SafetyDrill+ software and automated full-system backup software.

Seagate BlackArmor PS110 USB 3.0 Portable hard drive performance kit has 5-year of limited warranty, and although it’s a new technology Seagate charge it for $179.99 only. Pretty affordable for anyone who love to try out the USB 3.0.
