Seagate is launching their new home entertainment storage system known as the GoFlex Cinema Multimedia drive. This media drive is smart enough to recognize handful of media file formats, including the most common MP3, WAV, AAC, FLAC, WMA, ASF, LPCM, WMA Pro, Dolby Digital and DTS audio files. It also support various of video formats, such as the Xvid HD, AVI, MPEG-2 (VOB/ISO), MPEG-1, MPEG-4 (Xvid), AVC HD, H.264, TS/TP/M2T, MOV, M2TS, MKV, VC-1 WMV9 and even FLV video that you downloaded from the web.

Seagate GoFlex Cinema Multimedia drive is coming in three different storage sizes, which includes 1TB, 2TB and 3TB. What’s great about this multimedia player is the capability to connect directly to your HDTV or Projector via HDMI or composite video outputs and it supports Full HD 1080p video playback.

Other ports that come included are the S/PDIF, stereo audio output and USB 2.0 port that will let you hook up your camera or camcorder and directly browse the content via your HDTV.

To spoil the sofa-lover, Seagate GoFlex Cinema Multimedia player has come with a dedicated remote control to control the playback and other settings.

Currently, Seagate GoFlex Cinema multimedia drive is available now in the Europe market. No words when it will hit America. As for the price, the 1TB model has been priced at €99 (about US$136), 2TB model for €129 (about US$177) and 3TB model for €179 (about US$246).

Seagate has finally shipped their Pulsar XT.2 enterprise edition of SSD storage which was first announced back in March. This solid state drive is featuring amazing speeds on both reading and writing, and it’s one of the high performance SSD with reliable and secure storage for big company to store their sensitive data.

Seagate Pulsar XT.2 Enterprise SSD is a 2.5-inch SSD, using SLC (single-level cell) NANA flash memory chips and a SAS Serial Attached SCSI 6.0 Gbps interface instead of SATA II. Thanks to SAS interface, Segate Pulsar XT.2 enterprise SSD is capable of reading at 360 MB/s and writing at 300 MB/s, with random read/write performance of up to 48000/22000 IOPS.

I’ve been looking for ways to hook up with my external hard drive wirelessly without going through a local wireless network that I can’t bring it around. Well, at last such kind of solution has been made available by Seagate! They’ve rolled out their Seagete GoFlex Satellite external hard drive that we can hook it up with WiFi b/g/n connection available in your device. Now I can bring the storage wherever I want and connect it up with my laptop, tablet or smartphones wirelessly!

Apart from the wireless connectivity, Seagate also added USB 3.0 superspeed interface into this hard drive. Seagate GoFlex Satellite is self-powered using internal rechargeable battery that would last for 5 hours on continuous operation, or about 25 hours of standby time. As far as the storage capacity, Seagate GoFlex Satellite is coming in 500GB only. The only reason to not coming in 1TB size is perhaps they are trying to make it as slim as possible while they can still stuffed in the battery.

Seagate GoFlex Satellite is also backed by a three-year warranty, coming with a bundle of software that allow you to securely browsing your files from the hard drive. If you are interested, you can now pre-order it for $199.99 on Amazon. I’d definitely get one when it has arrived at our region!

Seagate has released their GoFlex Slim External Hard drive to the market now and it’s has started shipping to various online/offline retailers in the US. Seagate GoFlex Slim external hard drive is well known of its thinness, where it’s actually pencil thin and lots of its fat has been sliced from the original GoFlex series. GoFlex Slim Drive is only 160g in weight, and it measures at just 124mm x 78mm x 9mm which is easily to find place for storage.

Seagate offered the 320GB version for now, but I’m sure they will offer more capacity choices like 500GB, 640GB or 750GB in the future.

Western Digital has their Caviar Green hard drive to save more power on computing, so do Seagate. They’ve just announced their own Green desktop hard drive under the name of Barracuda Green, which is one of the high-performance hard drive that cost less power when in operation.

Barracuda Green desktop hard drive is 3.5-inch model, spins at 5900RPM, has 64MB cache, using SATA 6Gbps interface and offering up to 2TB of capacity per hard drive. To boost up their Barracuda Green’s performance, Seagate also added SmartAlign technology that enables all benefits of 4K sector standard and simplified drive installation without any tool required.

Seagate also slipped in 1TB and 1.5TB of Barracuda Green drive aside from the 2TB model. They will be available soon, while you can buy the 2TB version right now at eCost for $119.

From the first glance, you may find no difference between the pictured Seagate Momentus XT HDD with the usual 2.5-inch hard drive sold in the tech store. However, this Seagate Momentus XT 500GB ST95005620AS is practically a different species born from the same Seagate’s womb.

Seagate has announced their first solid state drive, code named as Pulsar, is a SSD based on single-level cell (SLC) technology where the SSD can offer up to 200GB capacity, using SATA 3Gb/s, and it can offer up to 30,000 read IOPS and 25,000 write IOPS. Seagate Pulsar SSD will speeding at 240MB/s sequential read and up to 200 MB/s sequential write speeds.

“Seagate is optimistic about the enterprise SSD opportunity and views the product category as enabling expansion of the overall storage market for both SSDs and HDDs (hard disk drives),” Dave Mosley, Seagate’s executive vice president for sales, marketing and product line management, said in the statement. “Our strategy is to provide our customers with the exact storage device they need for any application, regardless of the component technology used.”

Seagate planned to show off their new Pulsar SSD at CES in January 2010. Unfortunately, there are no details on pricing as yet.
