As usual, anything new and great that’s gone through the iFixit lab will be torn down. This is also the same with the new Sony PlayStation Move controller that was just launched several days ago. Like always, they’ve properly separated all elements inside the PlayStation Move, and describe it out loud to us, the non-bravery gamers (who just can’t bear to tear down our own new shiny Move controller) about what’s hidden inside that black plastic lollipop enclosure.

Unlike Wiimotes that use IR sensor to track the controller, Sony PlayStation Move using PlayStation Eye to track the controller in 3D Space. The PlayStation Eye could also track the X/Y positions and differentiate the controller using the glowing sphere and pinpoint the location.

Inside the controller, you can also found Gyroscope, Accelerometer, bluetooth transmitter, vibration motor, and MEMS compass. Most likely a component that you can find it on the modern smartphones. I haven’t tried it myself, but 19 out of 19 buyers at Amazon rate it 5 stars!

Oh, can’t wait to play with this new lollipop toy.

Apparently, Sony motion controller that we have talked about earlier (after the E3 until today) is not ARC. Although the name ‘Sony PlayStation ARC‘ has been registered in Japan, it appear you will get a different name when it has become available in the State. The official (this time is real) for Sony Motion Controller is ‘PlayStation Move’, and the controller is not coming alone like we have expected. There is a sub-controller coming along similar to Wiimote and Nunchuk.

According to the source, Sony will be selling this PlayStation Move controller in three different package:

• Package 1: The PlayStation Move Motion Controller Alone
• Package 2: PlayStation Move Motion Controller + Sony PlayStation Eye + Compatible Game
• Package 3: The Whole Complete Series, Including the controller, Eye, Games and PS3 Console

Gizmodo said that Package 2 will cost you less than $100, which is obviously trying to tell us the PlayStation Move motion controller is not an expensive equipment. Judging from our comparison store, Sony PlayStation Eye is about $30 – $35 USD only. If the game is about $20 – $30, The controller will score for the same price mark as PlayStation Eye. This is just a prediction but the price shouldn’t be far away when it has been released in this Fall season 2010.

The ‘Arc’ name for Sony Motion Controller is getting a positive feedback from Sony Japan because they’ve recently filed the PlayStation Arc trademark in Japan. There have been some name associated with the Sony motion controller but ‘Arc’ is getting the serious attention from Sony themselves.

This is only a trademark, and there is no confirmed fact from Sony that the Trademark will be associated with their Motion controller yet. However, if things going in a smooth way, we should expect to see Sony Motion Controller appear in this Spring 2010 as promised in the E3 exhibition.

After some speculation on the product name for Sony PS3 Motion controller, there seems to be set on the latest rumored name of ‘Arc’. Previously the motion controller was called Sphere, and then Gem, finally Arc coming up. Although Spring is near now, Sony haven’t make moves to promote their new controller although it has been confirmed it will make the landing on Spring 2010.

However, according to VG247 on their blog, Sony doesn’t want to respond to this rumor and speculation yet. Which mean the Name of ‘Arc’ is still a suggestion and it is not really a confirmed brand name yet for Sony PS3 Motion Controller.

Interesting! After hitting down the price of PS3 with their Slim Edition, Sony has confirmed that in Spring 2010, they will launch their PS3 Motion Controller, which has been big surprises at E3.

This is the only thing I’ve waited for until now (after watching the cool movie at the E3), and it’s also one of the reasons for me to not get a PS3 yet.

The motion controller is proven to be more sensitive, Wii-like but we are served with much better graphics. Although it still has a controller to hold (unlike Microsoft’s Natal) I agree with Sony that playing games still need to push buttons. The only thing to wait for now is the pricing. If the device has a reasonable price, the launching day will be the day I get mine.

E3 sure is a great day for gamer to see their future of gaming. After Microsoft unveiling their cool full body 3D motion sensing technology – the Project Natal, Sony comes up with what they called “The best Game Motion Capture yet!”, a Magic wand with color changing light sphere at the top with “sub-millimeter” precision.

It’s certainly amazing. Now, this is about the battle between Microsoft Button-less motion sensing technology with Sony motion controller with buttons and color pingpong.

I can say I agree with Sony that playing games still need to push some buttons. But I’m also interested with Project Natal because we can free our hands from controller. Both is good, now it’s about what you to choose to play with.
