The latest training watch that could do tracking on the amount of calorie burnt, heart rate, travel length and speed is introduced by VEA. They gave it a name that is quite easy to remember – Sportive, which should probably the mix of Sport + Active.

VEA Sportive traing watch is not yet another training watch that could only track your physical condition. It’s also having a basic mobile phone function where it can make SOS call in emergency situation asking for rescue while you are in the middle of your training session.

Even better, VEA has also thrown in hand camera and MP3 player to accompany your jogging/running exercise. For navigation purpose, Sportive has a 1.5-inch touchscreen display to play with. The data from the camera, profiles and records will be stored in the built-in 8GB internal memory. VEA Sportive also coming with bluetooth connectivity in case you need to pair it up with other bluetooth devices.

VEA Sportive is going to be available later in this month for $577 or €400. You have to act fast if you want one because it’s reported that Sportive will be priced at $722 or €500 in September, which is exactly 2 months after launching.

Tokyoflash has come up with another alien-watch called Kisai Rogue SR2. What’s special in this new series is, obviously, the unique shape of the LED lights for time reading. However, Kisai Rogue SR2 is not using any mini LED light system anymore. Instead, it uses the old LCD display technology for displaying the time puzzle. However, there is a LED backight that could shine in blue-green-red-orange color that is adjustable through the button on the side.

Just like every Tokyoflash watch, Kisai Rogue SR2 watch require so sort of learning curve before you can figure out the time. Here is the tutorial to read the watch:

The inner ring of blocks represents hours, the gap in the ring shows the current hour, as on a clock face. The ring of large blocks represents approximate minutes, the position of the gap shows the current approximate minutes. The outer ring of small dots represents exact minutes, every fifth dot being slightly smaller to distinguish five minute groups. Just look where the gaps are!

Jihun Yeom designer at Yanko Design is publishing an interesting timepiece technology for the modern tech-fashionable individual. Known as the Aurora Watch, you will find no traditional dial such as the minute hand or hour hand because it’s purely a hollowed wrist watch concept.

As the exchange, to see the time require a kind of ‘touch activation’ on the edge bevel edge around the watch ring. Once tapped/touched, two Aurora lights will lit-up where the red beam indicates the minutes and the blue depicts the hour. On the non-active state, Aurora Watch will become a jewelry for fashionable individual.

Geoffrey Cooper has designed an unique watch inspired by science fiction called Geocentric Watch. This Geocentric Watch has the usual wristwatch design, but it has a different inner side with two circles that will move rotating in the circular / hollow face of the watch.

The Circles are actually the hands of the clock, designed like a planet circling the sun. You can also look through to the mechanical side where you’ll see how’s the gears working.

Tap the display button on the right side of the timepiece and watch the screen light up. In Time mode, the vertical column represents hour information in binary code. The horizontal row represents minute information also in binary code. In Date mode, the vertical column represents the month, and the horizontal row represents the day of the month, in binary code. You decide whether you want the watch to display the time randomly (every 10 minutes or so) or only show the time when you tap the button. How’s that for c as in e=mc squared coolness?

WITness watch is a cool watch as the result when the ‘old ancient clock reading technology‘ and ‘new modern futuristic digital watch‘ fused together.

It’s still a concept actually, but it’s a great concept to resurface old technology. WITness watch bring back the old Chinese ‘Sun dials’ clock technology and turn it into a digital version and wearable timepiece on you wrist.

Perhaps it’s rare for people to know about Sun dial technology, but the point is the shade of the sun dial will be the pointer of the time. Just like the WITness watch all about. The inner circle with 12 lines will tell the hour while the outer ring containing 60 lines will tell the minutes.

WITness watch was designed by Hay Heun, who has a nice idea to turn old technology into a modern wearable gadget. This timepiece is not hard to read if we compare it with our Hardest to read watches. Of course, the sun dial on the WITness is much better than the ancient version, as it is also able to tell time even though it’s at night or when the sun is absent. Whenever I heard a new release from Tokyoflash, I will think “Ah, another Alien technology watch…!”. Can’t help it, the watch really have an Alien touch/style that you won’t be able to use it without a proper instruction.

Icon wristwatch is imitating the pixel-style icon similar to your computer icon. I found this wristwatch design really simple, both in the color blend which is only black and white, and the simplicity in the rigid style that fully exposed the edge of the “pixel”.

There is nothing cool such as symbol in this Icon Wristwatch. Purely blank, even the needles are looking rough and bold. I think it really suitable for those who envy simplicity and stright-forward lifestyle. But this type of simplicity is somehow “expensive” in my perspective. Normally, simplicity means affordable in some way. But $75 for such a blunt and bold wristwatch is kinda out of reach.

But when you wear it on your wrist, you’ll immediately feel and see the value start to show up. It looks retro and somehow it blend well with your skin. Furthermore, you’ll get immediate attention from the public that you are wearing something uncommon yet simple…

I have been a big fan of I-Ching knowledge and this design really make me so excited. Oracle watch is basically a futuristic watch. But after combined with the old and cool I-Ching reading for telling what to do next step of our life, it has become a great history design.

I really love the idea of 6 clicks on the watch to get the 6 bars for the I-Ching hexagram. In the old time, I-Ching was predicted using grass leaves. Later in this moment, we are using coins or may be an “odd and event” number to get the 6 bars to form the hexagram of “ways”.

Well, I’m not sure whether the calculation within this watch is correct or not. But large part of it I believe it’s based on random event. But that’s not bad too!

The fortune telling not only display you the 6 bars hexagram for further analysis using the old time I-Ching book, you’ll also get a short description about what’s the hexagram all about. Very handy, especially for guys like me.
